One-Day House of Reps: DAFF, DBF Reward Winner, Runner-ups

As the outcome of the One-Day House of Representatives continues to receive the attention of people globally, the founders of the Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi Foundation (DAFF) and Dele Bajaj Foundation (DBF), Mr. Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi and Hon. Usman Bamidele Olohunwa, respectively, have expressed their intention through the office of Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju to reward the winner and runner-ups of the intellectual competition.

The Ibarapa region of Oyo State achieved a historic milestone on Monday, June 17, 2024, by producing the first One-Day House of Representatives Member, an initiative that has received commendations from across Nigeria.

The One-Day House of Representatives Member programme is an initiative of Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, and it aims to engage young minds, foster future legislators from the federal constituency, inspire children to succeed regardless of their socio-economic background, and incorporate youth-driven initiatives previously overlooked. The programme also seeks to develop intellectually minded young leaders for the constituency’s progress.

Expressing their joy and commendation towards the planning and the modality used in judging the participants and for putting Ibarapa and the nation at large on the map, the two leading charity organisations expressed their willingness to reward the participants so as to encourage them and their peers to be committed to their academic pursuits.

The Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi Foundation announced that it will award N150,000 each to the winner and first runner-up and N100,000 each to the second, third and fourth runner-ups.

Similarly, the Dele Bajaj Foundation will award N100,000 to each of the five grand finale participants: Oladosu Peace Oluwaseyi, Lawal Akeemat Omosalewa, Adegbola Israel Timileyin, Olusegun Victor Tosin and Eniola Adebola.

Ibarapakan expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating that this gesture will encourage others to also support the young scholars.

“It is a joy to see us coming together to chart a new course for the development of our beloved region. We are united beyond our differences in religion, politics and background, striving for a brighter future for our constituency and the country at large. What a perfect time to be alive.

“This gesture will surely encourage and motivate the winner, Oladosu Peace Oluwaseyi, and the runner-ups to continue striving for excellence in their academic pursuits. It’s wonderful to see organisations and individuals coming together to promote education and youth development,” Ibarapakan said.

However, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character also called the sons and daughters of Ibarapa Land, both at home and abroad, to come back home to invest in education, which he described as the foundation of any nation and the future of the teeming population of younger people in Ibarapa Land. He also urged key stakeholders to continue to partner with the government for the growth, development and prosperity of Nigeria.
