Oyo 2027: Stop playing divisive politics, Abass Oloko cautions Adebayo Mutalubi Ojo

A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Mogaji Abass Oloko, has identified inherent danger in constant hitting up of Oyo state Political environment by a supposedly non-political actor, Adebayo Mutalubi Ojo regarding governorship race in the state.

Oyo state is a pace setter state. A state that sets developments, political and economic wise. Thus, discussion around it political development and especially 2027 Agodi Government House struggle shouldn’t be similar to that of beer parlor talk. It should be hinge on wisdom and intellectually driven.

Oloko said Ojo as a practicing lawyer should rather concentrate his energy on array of accusations against NBA rather than making himself as appointing authority on who govern Oyo state or pontificating about which zone should produce the next Governor.

Mogaji Oloko wondered why a full blown adult would be speaking with both ends of the mouth.

He said, “Just few weeks back Lawyer Ojo shouted onto High Heaven that Oloye Bayo Adelabu will Govern Oyo state all in an attempt to create bad blood within APC fold , and this week he has brought out his Trumpet of Zoning Governorship seat onto Oke Ogun.”

Oloko said Oyo state was created for harmonious relationships among the seven geo-political zones and importance of unity can not be overemphasized.

Furthermore, the discussion around sectional claims to the governorship position in 2027 is becoming a matter of entitlement, as if other zones in the state don’t matter. Every region, regardless of size or population, deserves consideration on Oyo State’s succession plan with civility and strategy.

He said, “We must stop playing divisive politics and desist from singing discordant Tune. Ibadan, as the capital, has significant numeric strength and should not be sidelined in the decision-making process. He believes as time progresses every Zone in Oyo state will mount Governorship throne within the atmosphere of Peace and Harmony

Oloko further cautioned that creating factions based on geographical lines could lead to political instability, saying, “If we allow politics to fracture our unity, we risk losing the progress we have made. The focus should be on who can best serve the people, not merely where they are from.

He urged party leaders to prioritise the interests of the citizens over personal or regional ambitions.

“Let us come together to discuss the best candidates for the people of Oyo State. It’s not about zones; it’s about leadership and vision,” Oloko concluded.
