The acting governor of oyo state, Bayo Lawal alongside Dr Akin Fagbemi, Chairman Oyo State Hospitals Management Board inspected two major secondary health facilities Thursday for on the spot assessment of key aspects of the facilities .
He was at the Ring road state hospital Ibadan specifically at the Renal dialysis unit, High dependence unit, the laundry department and Maxillofacial unit of the hospital.
The well equipped renal dialysis unit has not been optimal in function to which the Acting Governor expressed government’s dissatisfaction and insisted that every effort must be made to put the place to effective use. Earlier the Chairman of the Board, Dr Akin Fagbemi had briefed him on the possibility of using every means to make the place optimal serving the citizenry to justify purpose of the centre.
A holistic approach with an option of private partnership will be considered.
While At the laundry unit, the Acting Governor said the six of the seven industrial washing machines that are not working should be immediately assessed and repaired .
Also the two driers must also be repaired.
The Maxillofacial unit with infrastructural decay and obsolete equipment according to the governor should be presented to government for a complete upgrade in line with the healthcare plan of Omituntun 2.0 of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Acting Governor and his entourage also visited the Solarised oxygen plant at Jericho Specialist hospital which was commissioned recently by the Governor and emphasized the need to ensure maximum security is ensured at the centre to preserve the centre.
