As part of efforts to ensure safety and security of lives and properties in the state, the Oyo state government has continued proper profiling and data of commercial motorcycle riders in the state as it commenced the distribution of reflective jackets to riders.
Addressing the stakeholders present at the event, Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the commissioner for Budget and Planning, Prof Musibau Babatunde, implored commercial motorcycle riders to support the state government’s efforts to check the nefarious activities of men of underworld and lawlessness among the okada riders in the pace setter state.
While appealing to the commercial motorcycle riders to be law abiding citizens of the state, Governor Makinde, said that a total of Fifteen Thousand reflective jackets would be distributed free of charge to the riders as he also sounded note of warning that anybody that floats the rules and regulations of the state shall be dealt with
Earlier in their separate goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade and the Chairman, Oyo state Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), said the impact of the motorcycle riders to the economy of the state can not be overemphasized but necessary cautions must be taken to ensure safety of lives.

ACOMORAN, Solomon Olugbode, urged their members to reciprocate the good gesture of governor Seyi Makinde by adhering to the initiative.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of the reflective jackets to the riders.
The meeting had in attendance leaders of motorcycle riders across various zones of the state, including Park Management System, Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria, MTUN, among others.
