Hon Oluokun Peter Olusola, Oyo East Local Government Chairman,
convened a monthly peace and security meeting on Tuesday, reiterating his administration’s support for security agencies, farmers and traditional rulers in the local Government area.
The meeting, held at the chairman’s office, presided over by Hon Oluokun and his vice, Hon Mustapha Wasiu ( Waspa), brought together representatives from various security agencies, religious leaders and traditional rulers across Oyo East to discuss prevailing security challenges and efforts to address them.
Security agencies reported progress in addressing security challenges, attributing their success to the chairman’s unrelenting efforts and support at all time.
DSS and the area commander commended Hon Oluokun for his proactive measure taking to bring back children in the villages into schools.
The DPO, Operation Burst, Amotekun, SIB, NDLEA and Immigration officer in their separate reports commended the Chairman and his vice for tremendous success recorded within very short time of this present administration especially on the issues of hoodlums
Agro Rangers, civil Defense and farmers representative raised series of suggestions to prevent class between the herdsmen and farmers.
The Chairman, Hon Oluokun in his response, commended all the security agencies, traditional rulers, Baales and religious leaders for cooperations and support to sustain peace and security of life and properties of our people.
He also emphasized his commitment to do everything within his capacity to sustain peace at all cost
Furthermore, the Chairman highlighted series of plans that have been put in place concerning the herdsmen and farmers. He said, it has become compulsory for Fulanis and any herdman that to register with Local Government and the identification number/aporon will be given to each and everyone of them that have completed the registration.
In addition, series of plans and move have also been put in place especially among the Okada riders to prevent kidnapping. The Chairman then charged the security agencies to working hand in hand to enhance security measures
