Oyo Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill Will Enhance Private Public Collaboration – Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde has assured manufacturers and investors that Oyo state electricity regulatory commission bill will soon be signed into law.

Governor Makinde, gave the assurance while imauguratiing 1.4 megawatt solar plant of British-American Tobacco, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which according to him is in line with Oyo state government aspiration.

Governor Makinde said that the bill that has been passed by the Oyo state house of Assembly would enhance private and public collaboration on energy generation and management.

He said the state is ready to work with BAT and other investors to transit their federal electricity generating license into state’s, added that with the constitution and legal backing, a lot could be achieved at the state level without federal involvement.

While appreciating BAT for its contributions to Oyo state internally generated revenue through regular payment of taxes, Governor Makinde revealed that the state would soon commissioned its power plant, of one megawatt of solar and 10 gas driven

He also commended former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for his vision and hope for the country by bringing investors around the world into Nigeria during his civilian regime.

Among the dignitaries at the event were Chief Obasanjo, former ministers, top government functionaries, traditional rulers and business moguls.
