Oyo Government Begins One-Month Enforcement Of Covid-19 Preventive Measures, Threatens to Make Arrest After Deadline

The Oyo state government has begun one-month enforcement of compliance to COVID-19 preventive measures at markets across the state after which arrest and prosecution of violators will follow suit.

The state coordinator, Emergency Operation Center, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo stated this on Wednesday at the commencement of the one-month medium-scale enforcement of zero tolerance to COVID-19 in the state which kick-started at Bodija market in Ibadan.

The EOC chairman represented by one of the officials of Risk pillar, a branch of the state Emergency Operation Center, Mrs. Adekunbi Oladipo, maintained that the enforcement team made up of COVID-19 risk managers, environmental health officers, and security agencies will embark on a month persuasive/enforcement approach after which those that fall on the wrong side of the law would be made to pay a fine or arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of the land.

Also speaking, Sanitarian Tijani Adegoke, the president, environmental health officers association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, explained that enforcement is in line with the directive of the Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and assured efficiency in the discharge of task given to them without compromise.
