OYO GOVERNMENT FLAGS OFF COMMUNITY TESTING,AWARENESS CREATION FOR HEPATITIS

Oyo state government through Ministry of Health in collaboration with APIN Public Health Initiative and Association for Ophans and Vulnerable Children NGO in Nigeria has flagged off community testing and Awareness creation on Hepatitis for year 2020 world hepatitis day commemoration

The commissioner for health in the state Dr Bashir Bello said his ministry raise awareness of the problem of viral hepatitis and educate them on to prevent these infectious disease.

Oyo state government through Ministry of health in collaboration with APIN Public Health Initiative and Association for Ophans and Vulnerable Children NGO in Nigeria commenced World Hepatitis Day to raise awareness of the problem of viral hepatitis which has affected 325 million people worldwide.

In his remarks at the programme,The Commissioner for Health in the state Dr Bashir Bello encouraged stakeholders in the fight Against viral hepatitis to work collectively towards improving community awareness and strengthen prevention in order to achieve the global elimination goals by 2030.

In their separate remarks,the representative of APIN Public Health Initiative Bola Thompson and Association for Ophans and Vulnerable Children NGO in Nigeria Pastor Marcus Williams pledged their continuous support with Oyo state government towards eliminating Hepatitis.

Earlier in his address of welcome the permanent Secretary, Ministry of health,Dr Muftau Ayoola said the community testing on Hepatitis will commenced at Ibadan North local government for pregnant women and women of reproductive age.

The theme for this year’s world hepatitis day was Hepatitis Free Future.
