As Oyo State prepares for one of its popular local elections in recent times on Saturday, April 27, 2024, a member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has donated the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) to both chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the two local government areas of Oyo State.
The two local governments are Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North (Federal Constituency.)
Addressing the candidates in his country home, Igboora, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Hon. Adepoju stated that in order for the people of Oyo State to continue to enjoy His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s good work, all PDP candidates in the state’s 33 local government areas must win the Saturday election, saying that the candidates of the PDP in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North are people committed to seeing a better Ibarapa Land.
Ibarapakan said that the donation will enable the PDP candidates in the federal constituency to carry out essential preparations for the election.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his indelible role in promoting democracy in Nigeria.
According to Ibarapakan, the fact that opposition parties are expressing strong interest in the upcoming election demonstrates that the present Governor of Oyo State is a democrat, emphasising that the Governor’s actions will continue to inspire future Governors of Oyo State.
In the meeting with the party’s candidates, Ibarapakan expressed confidence in the PDP’s victory in the Saturday election, emphasising that his pro-people policies since his election as a House of Representatives member of the constituency will go a long way towards ensuring that all PDP candidates in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North win record-breaking victories.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Nigeria-Romanian Friendship Group, also appreciated the PDP faithful, leaders and party executives in the two local government areas for their continued support since the party chose the candidates to represent the party in the forthcoming election. He emphasised that, without their dedication, the PDP would not be where it is today.
He, however, urged the candidates not to rest on their oars, advising that following their victory on Saturday, they should use the opportunity to advance Governor Makinde’s 2.0 agenda, which, he maintained, has placed Oyo State on the road to progress and prosperity since 2019.
