The residents of Ibadan less city which comprises Akinyele, Lagelu, Egbeda, Ona- Ara and Oluyole were delighted with the direct Interaction which focuses on “Needs Assessment” organised by Oyo State Government through the office of the Sustainable Development Goals headed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon Kunle Yusuff MON.
They see the initiative as a means of engaging the State and Federal Government on the areas of their needs through Oyo State SDGs office.
By their Presentations, it was obvious that the concepts of SDGs working 2030 Agneda is their Paramount needs. The Community Development Council Chairmen in the five Local Governments wholeheartedly presented working documents that aligned with SDGs area of Focus.
According Hon Yusuff, “generally the various Youths Organisations requested for Skills’ acquisition centres, ICT Training Centres. Meanwhile, representatives of those living with disabilities also requested for different empowerment programmes which are within SDGs scopes.”
Speaking further, the Governor’s aide noted that market women unanimously requested for the construction and renovation of toilets in all their markets to avoid open defecations which could cause diseases.”
Hon Yusuff added that community leaders across the five Local Governments lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his campaign promises. While presenting their requests, they said since the inception of MDG and SDGs 2015 till now, they lamented that communities have never been given any opportunity to present the projects needed in their various domains.
They appealed to the state government to sustain this laudable initiative.
Kunle Yusuff MON, assured all the community leaders that once their requests aligns with SDGs 2030 Agenda for Projects and Programs implementations, the projects will be implemented.
