Oyo State Government has commenced the training of fifteen Animal Scientists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Artificial Insemination of Cattle.
Artificial Insemination is a genetic improvement programme that aims at increasing milk and beef production in cattle which will eventually enhance sustainable animal protein intake, reduce infant mortality, increase income generation and nutritional status of the citizens.
The training programme, which commenced at IITA, Ibadan on Monday, 18th of March, 2024, is in collaboration with FrieslandCampina WAMCO, and it includes training of selected farmers in pasture production as well.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye said the officers undergoing the training would be sent to all the 33 local governments of the State to support Cattle farmers.
