OYRTMA evacuates accident victims in Ibadan

The Oyo State Road Traffic Managemet Agency, OYRTMA, has evacuated three people crushed to death by a truck loaded with Coca-Cola products at the Total Garden area of Ibadan, Oyo State on Wednesday.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Joel Idowu, the victims of the accident who were a commercial motorcyclist and his two passengers, were killed by the fully-loaded truck in front of the Bovas Filling Station while the cyclist was trying to overtake the truck.

Idowu, said that some angry youths and motorcyclists at the scene attempted to set the truck, with reg. nos APP-696-XV, ablaze.

He, however, said they were prevented by the security operatives who were shooting sporadically into the air to scare them away.

He attributed the likely cause of the accident to brake failure on the partof the truck.

However, normalcy had since returned to the area, as OYRTMA personnel had towed the truck to their office, while remains of the victims and the motorcycle with reg no BDJ-486-QX, had been evacuated.

The victims were evacuated to UCH, Ibadan while the deceased were deposited at Adeoyo Hospital.

The OYRTMA Emergency Rescue Team joined by other security agencies were on ground to calm ensuing tensions down.
