Hon Olufemi Onireti, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had sent congratulatory message to the thirty three local governments’ chairmen, sworn-in Friday by the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde.
In a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to insightonline.com, Onireti, who contested the last general election to represent Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire federal constituency on the platform of the party, noted the inauguration of the newly elected chairmen marks a new beginning in the annals of council areas and LCDAs in Oyo state while charging they should come on board with new ideas.
“I am elated to express congratulations to our newly sworn-in chairmen. It is fulfilment of dreams. It is a new dawn in the history of our state and l want to encourage you to unveil new ideas that will redefine council administration and make positive, progressive impact on the people.”
He urged them to strive to emulate Engr Makinde by making sure “dividends of democracy spread across their various constituencies.”
He added, “His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde has redefined governance in the state. His achievements are indisputably unprecedented; any sector, area or project he faces, he makes certain he records high success, and they are projects and programmes that have made valuable impacts on the people.
“I implore you our honourable chairmen to emulate the governor, you have a template already that is His Excellency, adhere to it to entrench enduring legacies.”
He remarked that being inaugurated was an excellent thing “but enacting good governance is better and greater for that is by what you will be defined and remembered. Every glamour of office will fade away but the achievements made will endure and open more ways.”
