PDP Leaders Nominate Arapaja as S/W Chair Ahead of PDP Zonal Congress

The leadership of the Southwest chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has nominated a former Deputy-Governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja as candidate for the position of zonal chairman of the PDP.

Speaking at the at the zona caucus meeting of the party held at the Oyo State Government, Agodi, Ibadan on Tuesday, Governor said the party leaders across the six states of the zone have agreed to present Arapaja as the candidate for the Conal Congress.

Speaking further, Governor Makinde noted that the journey for PDP to reclaim power at the centre has started with the zonal Congress.

He promised to continue to reach out to those who are aggrieved to embrace unity and form a formidable force to redeem Nigeria in 2023.

In his address of welcome, the caretaker zonal chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Dayo Ogungbenro said the party leaders met last year and deliberated on the way forward for the party.

Ogungbenro added that various positions were shared in a fair manner that. He noted that names and other positions will be made public tomorrow. His words:

“You will all recall that all our leaders were here last year to discuss on way forward for our party and we thank God things are going well. We also spoke on the leadership of South West and we shared the positions in a fair manner that day.
“Today’s meeting is very significant in view of the coming congress and we must do it the way it should be done because congress is forthcoming. The law book of our party prescribes some certain laws that we must follow and it is in pursuant of that that we are here today.
“The National Working Committeee has slated the Congress for 6th of March and that is why we are all here today so that the work we did on the 13 of December, 2021. There is no time for us. The governor has also said that the list of those we have nominated for different positions should be made ready tomorrow and get to Abuja (Wednesday), reason for us coming together to discuss it.
