The Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Caretaker Committee, headed by the party stalwart in the southwest, Chief Dare Adeleke, was formally inaugurated today at the PDP South West Secretariat in Ibadan.
The committee was set up to revitalize the party in Ekiti State and ensure a smooth transition of leadership, as directed by the Party’s National Working Committee.
In his inaugural speech, Adeleke highlighted the importance of party discipline, unity, welfare, and teamwork, stating that the committee will operate an open-door policy while ensuring compliance with directives from the national level.
Adeleke went on to commend the governors of Oyo and Osun states, Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke respectively, for sustaining the PDP in the Southwest region, and assured the gathering that the committee will work tirelessly to reposition the party in Ekiti State.
He also emphasized the need for reconciliation and unity among party members, noting that this is crucial for the PDP to reclaim its strongholds in the region and defeat the “destructive APC party.”
Adeleke also reassured the gathering that the committee will embark on a comprehensive agenda that includes strengthening party discipline, promoting welfare and unity, and fostering team work to achieve a smooth transition of leadership to party members in Ekiti State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to an all-inclusive approach and stressed that the committee will operate with transparency and accountability while adhering to directives from the National Working Committee.
Adeleke said: “I stand before you today by the Grace of God as the Chairman of the Ekiti State PDP Caretaker Committee.”
“Ekiti State is very dear to our party because Ekiti State is PDP state. Hence, the party will leave no stone unturned to reclaim all states taken from us by the destructive APC party. South west is PDP, and PDP is southwest.”
Many avoidable internal wrangling and political bickering have succeeded in tearing us apart, which led to the loss of many states to APC in the southwest, most especially Ekiti State.”
“I most sincerely appreciate the leadership of His Excellency Seyi Makinde and His Excellency Ademola Adeleke for sustaining the party in the southwest of Nigeria. God bless you, sirs.”
“Furthermore, public and independent commentators have all agreed that Ekiti PDP has the needed number to win if harnessed properly.”
“It is on this note that our party at the national level constituted us as the CTC, populated by men and women of impeccable characters who can stand the test of time in political scrutiny.”
“Our mandate is to provide the needed leadership at these trying times of our party in Ekiti state, and same shall we do by the Grace of God.”
“We shall immediately swing into actions and do the needful in Ekiti State to reposition the party back to winning ways,” he assured.
Adeleke ended his speech by reiterating his belief in the PDP’s potential for a resurgence in Ekiti State, calling for the support and cooperation of all party members in this endeavour.
“Please note that we shall operate an open door policy, but at no time shall we go against the directive from the National Working Committee.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key PDP stakeholders and party leaders from the Southwest region, who expressed their support for the newly constituted Caretaker Committee.
