Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde has reiterated that education remains an integral part of his administration.
Makinde stated this on Sunday at the dedication of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye Global Mission Centre and Governor Udom and Martha Emmanuel Global Mission Plaza on Sunday.
“I want to thank my father, Bishop Wale Oke Specially and to congratulate you on the successful hosting of the 38th annual Holy Ghost Convention of the Sword of the Spirit Ministry. I am happy about the way you have set things up so that COVID-19 protocols are observed, so, I say Weldon sir.”
Makinde added that educated people can not be held down, they would always push for development
Makinde lauded the contributions of churches to formal education and enlightenment.
He emphasised that development is solely government’s responsibility but collective task and urged everyone to play his or her role without resting on their hoarse. According to him,
“I am always excited when I get invitation to speak at event that has to do with education. If I were told to choose just one of the pillars on which to build the the economic recovery of Oyo State, I will most certainly choose education as the foremost.”
“Educated person cannot be held down, they will continue to push foe development and embrace developmental efforts because they know better. I am also happy about the role that the church has played in bringing about education and enlightenment through formal education. What we are doing is just to educate people and ensure that people are liberated.”
“Well, a lot of people may not know that mission schools have had a long history in Oyo State. One of the first mission schools was created here over 70 years ago. These days, some people think that the work of building schools should be left only to the government. But I will always say that the government can only do so much.”
“Development is a collective responsibility, the main function of government is to make and enforce laws that will make the life of the citizens better. So, as we fellowship together this evening, let us not forget the importance of playing our roles as citizens, we should not rest on our hoarse. We can have many more of mission schools like this for the education of our people and as partners in progress, we are opened to listen to you, so if there are bottlenecks in your work which we believe God can straighten out. Please sir, do not hesitate to reach out to us to see what we can do about it.” Makinde concluded.
