LATEST UPDATE ON OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND EFFORTS AT COMBATING CRIMES AND CRIMINALITIES
Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you all once again to the Oyo State Police Command for the press briefing today 13th May, 2020. Consequent upon the last Press briefing held on 14th April, 2020 during which the Command showcased the arrests of some suspected notorious kidnappers, armed robbers/criminal receivers etc terrorizing the state, the Command have continued to intensify aggressive Police patrols, Stop and Search operations and Intelligence-led raids of criminal hideouts both within and outside Ibadan metropolis.
Likewise, during this period of Covid-19 pandemic, the Joint Security patrols/deployments at all entry/exit points in Oyo State Command to enforce the Government partial curfew from 2000 hrs to 0600 hrs and the 24 hrs convoy patrols of the Local Government offices/ motor parks continues. The Joint Special Task Force operation of the Oyo State Police Command and other sisters’ security agencies in the State is also in progress. Aside from the foregoing, the personal monitoring of the curfew enforcement in Oyo State by the Commissioner of Police with routine visits to Asejire, Onigari on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway road, Idi-Ayunre/Ijebu-Ode road, and Bakatari/Abeokuta road, Orile-Igbon/Ogbomoso Kwara roads and the intensive patrols across the State Command is being sustained. This has invariably reduced crimes and criminality in Oyo State. This efforts is aided by massive deployments of additional manned Police patrol vehicles including SRS, Skynet, SARS, AKS, Federal/Safer Highway patrol, Puff Adder, FSARS and convoy patrols one and two as well as the Special Task Force patrols.
I therefore wishes to seize this opportunity to continue to solicit from the members of the public their unrelenting supports by constantly supplying us with credible information that will enable us to continue to be proactive and combat crimes and criminalities in Oyo State Police Command. Therefore in the last one month, the Command recorded some breakthroughs due to the support of the people and the proactive measures put in place by officers and men of this Command, they are as follows;
1. OBTAINING GOODS UNDER FALSE PRETENCE/STEALING:- On 8th May, 2020 one Adebayo Ayobami ‘m’ age 29years of Oluyole Estate Ibadan, who claimed to hail from Ibadan, Oyo State, was arrested by men of the CP’s monitoring unit for fraudulently defrauding innocent people of their valuables on the pretext of paying for goods and services with fake credit alert.
On 15th April, 2020 at about 1840 hours, Ayobami Adebayo ‘m’ entered into a shop belonging to one Sanni Olusegun ‘m’ to purchase one I phone SX MAX valued three hundred and ten thousand naira only (N310,000.00) from him. Thereafter, he dubiously made a transfer of the said amount to Sanni Olusegun’s Zenith bank account but was later discovered to be a fake alert.
The said Sanni Olusegun later reported the case to the Police and discreet investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. Investigation further revealed that Adebayo Ayobami have used similar method to defraud many people at various times in the past including; (1) Lateef Azeez ‘m’ of No. 25 Olopo Meta, Olorunsogo Ibadan of Infinix hot 8 lite phone valued N45,000 on 7th May, 2020, (2). Ogunpehin Olarewaju ‘m’ of No. 31 Providence Estate Olopo Mewa Eleyele, Ibadan, a Boutique owner of clothes and wrist watch valued N36,000 on 18th July, 2018. (3). One Mumini Ajagbe ‘m’ of Elekuru Ibadan of Air conditioner value N38,000 on 16th April, 2020. (4). One Olubode Oyerinde ‘m’ a bolt driver of the sum of N21, 000 on 7th May, 2020. (5)One George Nosakhire ‘m’ of Ologuneru Ibadan, a Boutique owner of cloth valued #188,000,00 on 03/04/2020 etc. Investigation is in progress.

2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ROBBERS: On 05/05/2020 at about 1900hrs,the DPO Toll gate in a swift response to a distress calls went to a robbery scene at Seko village along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, where one Hamzat Kazeem ‘m’ a bus driver with his Mazda bus Reg. No. Oyo BDJ 083 UV conveying cosmetic products along with his conductor was waylaid by the trio of (i) Dauda Yussuf ‘m’ age 44yrs, (ii) Kazeem Oladejo ‘m’ age 41yrs and (iii) Akeem Mukaila ‘m’ age 41yrs. The hoodlums who arrived at the scene with a Bajaj boxer motorcycle were arrested by men of the Toll-gate Police station.
Further investigation revealed that the same syndicate have been using motorcycle to unleash mayhem on innocent road users and traders along the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway. Dauda Yussuf and Akeem Mukaila were later identified by one Madam Taye Oladipo ‘f’, a trader at Seko village as the hoodlums that robbed and disposed her of the sum of N30,000.00 on 02/05/2020 at about 0700hrs in another separate incident. Investigation is now in progress.

IMPERSONATION: On 05/05/2020 at about 0855 hrs, one Femi John ‘m’ age 54years of Ori-Oke Mandan Iseyin was seen within Iseyin metropolis in a full Police uniform impersonating and parading himself as a Police Inspector within the town. Upon information received at the Police station, the said Femi John was arrested and when searched, a Police Warrant card of an Inspector of Police was found in his possession.
Investigation revealed that he was dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force in 2004 over a serious offence of diverting a petrol tanker to an unknown destination. But he has since then continued to impersonate and sometimes escort fairly used vehicles called ‘Tokunbo’ across the state. He was arrested in 2018 for a similar offence, charged to court and sentenced. But this unrepentant and habitual criminal, who was released after completing his jail term instead of turning a new leaf still continued in this criminal act. Investigation is now in progress and suspect will soon be charged to court.

(4) ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS CUM KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF TWO AK-49 RIFLES: On 30th April, 2020 at about 2000hrs, the Police Team and a local vigilante group detailed at a spot near Esarun village via Ido town along Eruwa/Igbo-Ora road to enforce the dusk-to-dawn curfew on movement of persons occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, in the course of enforcing the curfew, the group sighted three men on a motorcycle and were stopped for routine check. But the three men suspected to be members of an armed robbery cum kidnapping syndicate who have been terrorizing members of the public in the area fled from the scene into the bush, abandoned their operational motorcycle and a bag which was strapped to the motorcycle.
The Police and vigilante team alerted the SARS Operatives and policemen from Ido Division led by the DPO who were on routine Anti-crime patrol in the area who searched the bag and discovered two AK-49 Riffles with two magazines loaded with thirty ‘30’ and eight ‘8’ rounds of live ammunitions respectively in the bag belonging to the fleeing suspected armed robbers cum kidnapers.
The combined team of SARS Operatives and policemen from Ido Division later combed the nearby villages with the support of the local Vigilante men and in the process, two of the fleeing suspects who later identified themselves as Wakili Mohammed ‘m’ and Alli Ismaila Baree ‘m’ were arrested in their hideouts.
Upon interrogations, they confessed to be members of a 4-man armed robbery cum kidnapping syndicate and explained that the AK-49 Riffles recovered in their bag were normally used to perpetrate their nefarious criminal activities.
They further explained that they were going to Odo-Ogun in Ado-Awaye village Eruwa to kidnap a cattle dealer when they were intercepted by the Police and vigilante team. Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the group.

(5) ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 13th April, 2020 at about 2300hrs, a distress call was received by a team of SARS operatives attached to Dugbe Ibadan while on routine Anti-crime patrol within Ibadan metropolis that some hoodlums who were armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons had invaded Agbowo Area, opposite University of Ibadan, attacked members of the community and also carted away cash, cell phones, laptops and some other valuable items.
Sequel to the distress call, the SARS operatives swung into action and in the process, two of the notorious hoodlums who subsequently identified themselves as Olatubosun Olalekan ‘M’ and Badmus Tunde ‘M’ were arrested while fleeing from the scene of crime.
One locally made cut-to-size gun and one empty shell of expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects.
Upon interrogations, they confessed to the crime and series of criminal activities they had masterminded within Ibadan metropolis. Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.

(6) ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 9th May, 2020 at about 1930hrs, three members of a notorious gangs of hoodlums who were armed with gun, jack knives and some other dangerous weapons trailed one Alhaja Modinat Animasahun to her residence at Elebu Area, Ibadan.
The three armed robbers who rode on a Honda Motorcycle attacked the said Alhaja Modinat Animasahun with dangerous weapons, and also dispossessed her of some amount of money, cell phones and other valuable items.
However, the victim raised alarm which attracted a team of SARS operatives who were on routine Anti-crime patrol in the area and in the process, one of the three armed robbers who later identified himself as Rasheed Gnadamosi ‘M’ was arrested at the scene of crime.
One locally made cut-to-size barrel gun with one live cartridge and the operational Bajaj Motorcycle which they used for the criminal activity were recovered from the suspect but his other syndicate members managed to escape.
Upon interrogations, the suspect confessed to the crime and series of previous criminal activities he had masterminded with his fleeing syndicate members within Ibadan metropolis. Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.

(7) ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS AND CRIMINAL RECEIVERS: On 20th April, 2020 at about 0130hrs, a distress call was received by the DPO Apata Ibadan that some members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate who were armed with guns, cutlasses, jack knives and some other dangerous weapons had invaded Wire & Cable community, Apata Area, Ibadan, attacked members of the community in their houses and also dispossessed them of some amounts of money, cell phones, laptops, tv sets and some other valuable items.
Sequel to the distress call, a team of Police operatives were quickly dispatched to the area and in the process, two of the armed robbers who later identify themselves as Ishola Rahmon ‘M’ and Adeyemi Okiki ‘M’ were arrested at the scene while other syndicate members managed to escape.
Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and after discreet investigation, four other members of the armed robbery syndicate who identified themselves as Afolabi Femi ‘M’, John Moses ‘M’, Musiliu Rildwan ‘M’, Isiaka Audu ‘M’ and one Obasi Deborah ‘F’ who is the syndicate’s armourer were arrested in their respective hideouts within Ibadan metropolis.
The confessional statements of the suspects equally led to the arrest of two of the syndicate’s criminal receivers who identified themselves as Mogaji Buhari ‘M’ and Yaro Al-Hassan ‘M’ and they confessed to have received many robbed valuable items from the armed robbers.
The following exhibits; One Locally Made Gun, Six ‘6’ Live Cartridges, Three Walkie-Talkie Devices, One Jack Knife, One Army Face Cap, Criminal Charms which they used for the criminal activities with Two Dell Laptops, Three Plasma TV Sets, Nineteen ‘19’ Cell Phones and One TVS motorcycle belonging to the victims were recovered from the suspects. Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

(8) ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, MURDERERS AND CULTISTS: On 11th April, 2020 at about 1000hrs, a distress call was received at Sanyo Division and SARS office Dugbe Ibadan that there was a serious pandemonium at a building construction site in SOKELU village, OLUNDE Area of Ibadan, between members of two rival armed bandit gangs known as ‘’ONE MILLION BOYS’’ and “BORNFOTO BOYS’’ led by one Abiola A.K.A Ebila and Moshood Oladokun A.K.A Ekugbemi respectively.
The members of the rival armed gangs who had hitherto been unleashing mayhem on innocent members of the public in parts of Ibadan metropolis for several years and had attacked, robbed and also inflicted severe bodily injuries on some innocent members of the public.
Sequel to the distress call, a team of SARS Operatives and Special operations team set up by the government of Oyo State swung into action and on getting to the scene of crime, the leader of the ‘’Bornfoto Boys’’ was found in the pool of his blood but he later died of his injuries. The SARS team commenced investigations into the matter while the Special operations team prevented any form of reappraisal attacks. In the course of intense and detailed investigations, the owner of the construction site who identified himself as Babatunde Oladapo ‘m’ and five members of the rival armed bandits who also identified themselves as Azeez Oyadina ‘m’ A.K.A Olori Odo, Opeyemi Kolapo ‘m’ A.K.A Olobo, Sola Sunday ‘m’, Nurudeen Adeogun ‘m’ A.K.A Eji And Bayonle Hammed ‘m’ A.K.A Blackberry were arrested in connection with the murder of Ekugbemi.
The following exhibits; Three Poisonous Knives, One Cutlass, One Handsaw, Two Hammer, One Axe, Three Pairs Of Scissors which were used for the criminal activity and Wraps Of Weeds suspected To Be Indian Hemp were recovered from the suspects.
Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime. Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang including the gang leader known as Abiola A.K.A Ebila.

9. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 8th April, 2020 at about 0030hrs, some notorious hoodlums who were armed with cutlasses and some other dangerous weapons laid ambush and barricaded the road at a desolate spot at Oke MUA village via Saki town and intercepted one Jeremiah Akinyemi who was travelling in his golf car with REG NO KSB 365 JB.
The hoodlums attacked him and members of his family in the car and equally dispossessed them of their cell phones, and some amount of money both in local and foreign currencies.
The incident was later reported at SARS office, Saki base hence, at about 0830hrs on the same date, the same set of hoodlums intercepted another road user, one Adesina Sodiq who was travelling along the same road on his unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle and dispossessed him of the said motorcycle.
However, he raised alarm which attracted members of the nearby village who quickly alerted SARs operatives in SAKI town.
Hence, three(3) of the hoodlums who later identified themselves as Usman Garuba ‘m’, Aliu Buba ‘m’, Momo Mohammadu ‘m’ and Abubakar Wadatta ‘m’ were arrested at the scene of crime. Three (3) long sharp cutlasses which the hoodlums used for the criminal activities were recovered from them.
Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and the victims of the 1st armed robbery incident equally identified them as the same set of hoodlums that attacked and robbed them.
Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.

10. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 4th May, 2020 at about 0041hrs, three members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate who were armed with gun, knives and some other dangerous weapons invaded the residence of one Adeniyi Musiliu ‘m’ located at Isale Alfa area, Saki, Oyo State.
The three armed robbers attacked the said Adeniyi Musiliu ‘m’ with the dangerous weapons and also dispossessed him of some amount of money, cell phone and other valuable items.
As soon as the incident was reported at SARs operational base Saki, a team of SARs operatives swung into action and after discreet investigation, two of the hoodlums who later identified themselves as Abass Kasim ‘m’ and Wale Olawuyi ‘m’ were arrested in connection with the crime.
One locally made gun with seventeen ‘17’ live cartridges which the hoodlums used for the criminal activity and cash sum of Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (N280, 000. 00) only part of the money collected from the victim were recovered from the suspects.
Upon interrogations, they confessed to the crime and series of previous criminal activities they had masterminded with their other syndicate members within SAKI town.
Their confessional statements later led to the arrest of one Moshood Fadilulahi ‘m’ who supplied the locally made gun with ammunitions used for the criminal activity and one other suspect, Musiliu Waliu ‘m’, a son of the victim who gave information about his father to his syndicate members which led to the armed robbery operation.
Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.

11. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBER: On 21st March, 2020 at about 1700hrs, three (3) members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate who were armed with gun, cutlasses and some other dangerous weapons invaded the residence of one Abdulahi Aruna located at AKOKO Camp via OFIKI town in OKE-OGUN axis of Oyo.
The three armed robbers attacked the said Abdulahi Aruna ‘m’ with the dangerous weapons, inflicted severe bodily injuries on him and dispossessed him of some amount of money, cell phone and other valuable items.
However, the victim raised alarm which attracted members of the community and a team of SARS operatives attached to SAKI operational base were quickly alerted.
Sequel to the DISTRESS call, the SARS operatives raced swiftly to the said village and in the process, one of the three armed robbers who later identified himself as Mohammed Oseni ‘m’ was arrested while fleeing from the scene of crime.
One locally made long barrel gun with one expended cartridge which they used for the criminal activity was recovered from the suspect. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and series of previous criminal activities he had masterminded with his fleeing syndicate members within SAKI town and its environs.
Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.
SUSPECT: Mohammed Oseni ‘m’ age 3o years

12. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 21ST April, 2020 at about 0815hrs, two notorious members of an armed robbery syndicate who specialized in attacking commercial motorcyclists and dispossessing them of their motorcycles intercepted one Saliu Adewoye ‘M’, a commercial motorcyclist at a desolate spot at Idikan road, Ibadan.
The hoodlums who were armed with guns attacked the motorcyclist and also dispossessed him of his Bajaj Motorcycle REG NO BDJ 751 QB, cash with some valuable items and fled from the scene. The victim quickly alerted a team of SARS operatives who were on routine Anti-crime patrol within Ibadan metropolis. Sequel to this, the SARS operatives gave them a hot chase and in the process, two hoodlums who later identified themselves as Muiz Agboola ‘m’ and Raphael Aweda ‘m’ were arrested at another location where they wanted to attack and rob another member of the public who identified himself Temitope Ogunjobi, and a peak milk distributor.
Two locally made pistols with two live cartridges and the Bajaj Motorcycle which the hoodlums snatched from the motorcyclist was recovered from them.
Upon interrogations, they confessed to the crime and series of similar criminal activities they had masterminded within Ibadan metropolis.
Investigation is now in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
