The West African Young Statisticians Association has called for the need for synchronization of data in boasting the national and economic development of the nation.
The call was made during the 2nd Biennial International workshop & conference on Economic & Social Goods Forecasting during Covid-19 held at University of Ibadan Conference Center.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transports, Oyo state, Prof Daud Sangodoyin said they have identified various driving fingers that can assist in the success of Data revolution in Africa.
He said
“The challenges of information technology solution is associated to the need to ensure the sustainability of platform that leverages existing data sources and enable a nexus for evolving increased data management performance.”
“There is need to focus on capacity building to bridge the gap created in finding experts with experience analytical skills to support data.”
He added that provision should be made for data accessibility to different types of downstream application in a way that is transparent to ensure application while elastically supporting digital data demand.
“The strategies for data revolution in Africa must accommodate all aspect of data available and accessibility while eliminating or reducing the need for knowledge of high level specialized data management schemes.”
President, West African Young Statisticians Association, Mr Adeniji Oyebimpe in his speech applauded participants for all hands to be on desk in ensure the application help in bringing a better development in Oyo state.
“Data is the foundation of all, we must utilize the date we have to bring changes to the nation. Data will help foresee good things to be done in our community.”
Also in attendance were the wife of Oyo State Deputy Governor, Prof Bolanle Olaniyan, Ex- Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof Idowu Olayinka and host of other important personalities.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to the Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin, Professor Idowu Olayinka and Governor Seyi Makinde’s Ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro for their positive contributions towards education development in Oyo State.
