The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate in Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Akeem Raheem, has congratulated Muslims in the local government and across Oyo State on witnessing Ramadan 1442AH.
He charged Muslims to use the opportunity of the blessed month to reflect on God’s benevolence and mercies and to make supplications for the progress of the local government and Oyo State.
A statement signed by the media coordinator of the ARA Campaign Team, Musediq Ayandiji, indicated that the chairmanship candidate also admonished the Muslim Ummah on good neighbourliness and love for others.
According to Raheem, the essence of the month of Ramadan is captured in Quran 2 verses 182-185: “The month of Ramazan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction; therefore whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein, and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; Allah desires ease for you, and He does not desire for you difficulty, and (He desires) that you should complete the number and that you should exalt the greatness of Allah for His having guided you and that you may give thanks.”
He counselled those who are buoyant to provide for the underprivileged in the state, stating that it is another opportunity to worship Allah by discipline the self and sharing love.
The chairmanship candidate added the month of Ramadan offers a lot of opportunities to seek Allah’s favours for self and others, thus Muslims should pray to God to continue to guard people in positions of authorities.
Raheem called on Muslims to use the Ramadan season to pray more for the government of Governor Seyi Makinde, who he said has been leading the state in the right direction.
“The month of Ramadan also offers Muslims the opportunity to pray; I encourage my people to pray for our local government, our state and especially our leader, Governor Makinde, who has been making massive impact on every sector of the state,” Raheem added.
