The lawmaker representing Akinyele Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Lekan Abiola Monsor has brought huge relief to the residents of communities in Akinyele local government by donating a sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000) to purchase new electric poles and cables that were destroyed by rainstorm last Saturday.
Some electric poles and cables in Moniya area of Ibadan were destroyed by heavy wind, during the downpour that occurred last Saturday evening across in Ibadan and some other parts of the state.
As a result of the damaged poles with other associated materials, twelve communities that derive power supply from Moniya have been thrown into darkness.
Why inspecting the level of the damage done by the rainstorm, Hon Abiola assured the residents of those communities that he would do everything possible to ensure early restoration of power supply to the affected communities. His words:
“It is regrettable that ten communitiesis are facing such a loss at this moment due to natural disaster.
“But I can guarantee that supply will be restored to the affected areas because we have started sourcing for the materials to replace the damaged poles and other accessories.
” I’m donating the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300, 000) for the procurement of new electric poles and cables needed to restore power supply to those ten thousand households that have been thrown into darkness. ”
The communities affected include, Ramat, Labi, Akuro, Olookun, FG Housing Estate.
Others are, Apapa, Bagadaje, Kajola, Araromi, Ajoda, Oluwakemi and Unity.
In their remarks, the chairmen of landlords associations of the twelve communities appreciated Hon Lekan Abiola for being proactive and taking steps to quickly address and ameliorate their plights.
They prayed that God will continue to bless him and that they will continue to support him in all his endeavours.
