The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources in Oyo State, Barr. Seun Ashamu, has outlined the practical steps taken by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to foster economic prosperity in the state, through energy revolution.
In his address at the Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) during its Annual Socio-Economic Summit held last Friday, Themed “Powering Oyo State for Industrialisation and Economic Development,” Ashamu emphasised key projects that reflect the state’s commitment to sustainable development, including the ongoing Gas Pipeline Infrastructure project, Oyo State’s first Independent Power Project (IPP), and the development of multiple mini-grids across the state.
The commissioner further highlighted the recent passage of legislation enabling state regulatory oversight of electricity, which he described as a crucial step towards ensuring a reliable and efficient energy supply for both businesses and residents.
He reiterated the importance of these initiatives in laying a strong foundation for industrial growth and attracting investments to Oyo State.
In addition to outlining current projects, the Commissioner encouraged summit participants to engage in discussions that would generate innovative ideas to further enhance the state’s sustainable development vision.
He expressed the belief that collaboration between the government and the business community is vital for tapping into the full potential of state’s energy resources.
The summit, however, brought together key stakeholders, business leaders, and policymakers, all committed to driving the economic transformation of Oyo State through innovative energy solutions.
