Exactly one year ago today, the good people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North came out en masse to give us freely the mandate to serve.
As we reminisce about your strong desire for change and the show of support and love you demonstrated on this day in history, we are even more committed to bringing about more programmes and initiatives that have a substantial positive impact on the lives of the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
Your resilience and continued support for this administration have rekindled our inner drive and served as a reminder that development, progress and unity are achievable when we work together to address our unique problems and concerns.
In the last few months, through your prayers, support and contributions, we have invested both human and financial resources in our constituency’s education so as to complement and support the sterling efforts of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on his agenda for sustainable development for our great state.
We also have been able to bring about job opportunities for teeming unemployed graduates in the federal constituency regardless of political affiliation; our scholarship offers for outstanding students in tertiary institutions; and the recognition accorded to our first-class graduates in numerous fields and tertiary institutions have in no small measure encouraged academic competition.
Furthermore, the free coaching classes for our students during holidays and, of course, UTME candidates will serve as a model for aspiring politicians and the generation yet unborn.
We have deployed the use of data and technology to identify our areas of core competencies, academic strength and weaknesses, thereby proffering a strategic yet unique model that works for our community.
We are glad we are beginning to see positive results, which makes us excited about what the future holds.
In the last few months as well, we have been able to exhibit that indeed, transparency is a powerful force that, when consistently applied, can eliminate evasiveness, improve governance, promote accountability and build trust. My team and I have been very open and sincere about our intentions and actions.
We are deeply immersed in the lives of our people and have also been very accessible because we understand that we live in a dynamic world and the needs and wants of our people constantly change.
As a lawmaker, we have raised several Motions, sponsored Bills with the strong hope that their purpose will begin to materialise in the near future. We have made it our duty to always go above and beyond in order to serve the interests of the people of our constituency and state.
In the near future, we will begin to sensitise our youths on the need to focus positively on life and desist from indulging in drug and substance abuse capable of derailing a bright future.
We know it is a very tumultuous time for everyone in our country, it is also time for a sober and solemn reflection of how we got here, with the hope that our direct actions and economic interventions will pull us out of our precarious state as a nation. We cannot afford to be pessimistic at this point.
I encourage all of us to remain steadfast with a strong sense of patriotism and I am of the conviction that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Your continued support and prayers remain our source of strength. The trust you have reposed in us is humbling and we will stop at nothing to make you proud of that every day.
I appreciate God for everything, including my father, my hero, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who has made governance very easy for all of us as a result of his rare leadership style. I thank my immediate family, especially my parents, who, at a tender age, taught me to be kind but never compromise when it comes to values and ethics.
To our traditional fathers, religious fathers and mentors, I am most grateful for your support, constant advice and support. I also thank the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in our dear constituency and state for standing by me before, during and after the election.
As the future of our constituency looks brighter with our current and proposed initiatives, we, for the sake of emphasis, call on all stakeholders not to relent on partnering with the government to accelerate the development of our communities and nation.
Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character and Member Representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
