Unprecedented: Ibarapakan Gives Scholarships To Constituents Seeking Admission To Tertiary Institutions In Nigeria

The lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has given scholarship offers to six constituents seeking admission to tertiary institutions in Nigeria through the Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju Scholarship Scheme, one of the initiatives of the federal lawmaker to rejig the falling standards of education and to encourage competitiveness among the public senior secondary schools in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

The annual scholarship offers cover only the tuition fees of the awardees throughout the constitutional duration of 4 years per tenure, and it is strictly for students seeking admission into federal universities, federal polytechnics, or any Oyo State-owned university or polytechnic.

Releasing the list of beneficiaries through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hassan Adesodi Olaoniye, on Friday, October 6, 2023, the lawmaker appreciated the school principals for taking their time to select the best students in their respective schools and also tasked the awardees to be diligent in their academic pursuits.

The beneficiaries as released are: Okegbenro Feranmi Heritage (Igboora), Ogunmolu Faosiat Ayomide (Igboora), Adetoro Precious Adegoke (Idere), Adejumo Taiwo Joshua (Ayete), Olaniyan Mustapha Olatunde (Tapa), and Okunade Husefah Adedeji (Igangan).

According to the statement from the office of the lawmaker, “the best students in WAEC from all the public secondary schools in the constituency were picked by the schools, and the names were forwarded through the school principals.

“Three overall-best students were then picked from each of the two local government areas.

“Ibarapa North local government comprises three towns: Ayete, Tapa, and Igangan. The number of towns informed our decision to spread Ibarapa North slots across the three towns to have one student per town in the local government area.

“Ibarapa Central, which comprises two towns (Igboora and Idere), Igboora has two, being the town with the highest number of secondary schools in the local government and the entire constituency, and Idere has one to make up the three beneficiaries from Ibarapa Central.

“A representative from each of the public secondary schools in each town came together to pick the best student, considering the WAEC result and the 2023 UTME score.

“The student from Igangan graduated from Adegun Asake Grammar School; that of Tapa graduated from Maku Grammar School; and the awardee from Ayete graduated from Ayete Grammar School, Ayete.

“In Ibarapa Central, the awardee from Idere graduated from Igboora High School, Igboora, and for the two beneficiaries from Igboora, one graduated from Oyo State School of Science, Idere, and the second awardee from Igboora graduated from Igboora Grammar School, Igboora.”
