As the 2027 governorship election draws closer, signs are emerging that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is beginning to shape the political landscape beyond his tenure.

Speaking at the unveiling of Oyo State 50 logo held at the Governor’s Office on Monday, the Governor declared that House of Representatives Member, Hon Dhikrullahi Adedeji Stanley Odidiomo,  Debo (surname not mentioned),  former House of Representatives member and Chairman of Oyo State at 50 Committee, Hon Akinade Saheed Fijabi, Hon Oyedeji Oyenshina (Oshine) and Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sikiru Sanda are among those who will play critical roles in 2027.

“By May 29, 2027, you would have had 28 years rule of an Engineer. You also had almost four years rule of an Engineer some years back and you know what you experienced then.

“For continuity, however, yes, I will make recommendation for the people of Oyo State. And if you see Saheed Fijabi, Debo, Odidiomo, O’Shine and even Lajue, what this demonstrates is that we are having very young, agile, vibrant people that can move Oyo State further, even long after I have left office.”

“So, the Oyo State people would decide but I will recommend. If some people think I won’t recommend, they are deceiving themselves.

“I will. And those I will recommend are those I feel would be able to continue with the job.”
