Video: Why Oyo Govt Installed Anti-one-way Device on Road – Commissioner for Works

 

In a bid to curb the dangerous practice of driving against traffic flow also known as one-way drive, the Oyo State Government has embarked on a stricter enforcement approach to curb the menace.

This is as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport embarked on the installation of Anti-one-way device at Idi-Ape/Iwo Road junction.

This was contained in a public service announcement to road users issued by the Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin on Thursday.

According to Sangodoyin, this new innovative system is designed to prevent one-way driving, reduce accidents, and promote an orderly road network.

“The general public, particularly road users, are hereby informed that a new anti-one-way device has been installed at the Idi-Ape/Iwo Road junction to boost safety and streamline traffic flow.

“This innovative system is designed to prevent one-way driving, reduce accidents, and promote an orderly road network.”

The Commissioner for Public Works and Transport further highlighted what road users should about the new innovation.

1) The device is fully operational and monitored by our traffic management team.

2) Vehicles attempting to drive against traffic will have their tyres punctured by spikes.

3) Obeying traffic rules will help avoid damage and ensure a smooth commute.

Professor Sangodoyin however urged all residents and more motorists to cooperate with the Oyo State government, under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, GSSRS, to make all roads safer for everyone.
