The Oyo State government has announced that it will soon begin recruitment of Teachers to fill the vacancies in primary schools across the State.
The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Nureni Adeniran disclosed this on IMPACT POINT a weekly current Affairs programme on IBR 92.5fm.
The former Commissioner for Education however said the board awaits the approval of Governor Seyi Makinde to carry out this exercise.
Explaining that the on-going recruitment exercise being conducted by TESCOM is for the Secondary Schools in the State only, he said there are vacancies for teaching and non-teaching Staff in primary schools.
Speaking further, Dr Adeniran said “were it not for the coronavirus pandemic, we would have started the process but again, we would want TESCOM to finish with its own before we start that of SUBEB because we would not want a situation where people will apply for both at the same time.
On some Heads of Schools suspended few months back, he said they have been pardoned after they tendered an apology with a promise not to repeat same.
He however warned that the government will not hesitate to deal with anyone who may try to truncate government efforts in repositioning education in the State.
