… Lawmaker’s Parents Bag Chieftaincy Title In Igboora
Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, has joined traditional rulers, sons and daughters of Igboora on the occasion of the 2023 Igboora World Twins Festival.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, October 14, 2023, by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Hassan Adesodi Olaoniye, the lawmaker expressed that twins are a precious gift from God and that Igboora being recognised as the Twins Capital of the World demonstrates the extent to which the ancient town has been blessed by the Almighty God.
The lawmaker emphasised that Igboora’s high twin birth rate has made a significant contribution to Nigeria’s tourist industry, which is thought of as the oil of the twenty-first century.
“That we are the Twins Capital of the World is a natural blessing of no mean importance. Today in the world, we are known for one special thing as a community, and that is the highest rate of twin birth. Many people have linked this to the kind of food we eat, but this is a phenomenon that remains a puzzle to everyone.”
“Researchers have published their reports about this development, and traditionalists with raw native intelligence have also said the rationale behind the high rate of twin births in Igboora, but one fact that is public knowledge is that we are the Twins Capital of the World, and this is one of the blessings of the Lord we will forever treasure,” he expressed.
Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju also showered his appreciation to the entire Igboora traditional council led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye the Olu of Igboora Land, sons and daughters of the community, for finding his parents, Chief Dr. Amos Adepoju and Chief (Mrs.) Elfride O. Adepoju, worthy of chieftaincy conferment as Asiwaju of Igboora and Yeye Asiwaju of Igboora Land, respectively, during the just concluded 2023 Igboora World Twins Festival.
Expressing his gratitude further, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, thanked His Excellency, Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the rare love he has for the people of Igboora and Ibarapa at large and for deeming it fit to grace this year’s World Twins Festival.
“Gov. Makinde has once again shown how much he cares for the people of Igboora and Ibarapa at large. Coming to Igboora today to identify with the people of the community on the occasion of the 2023 Twins Festival is a show of love and respect the performing governor has for the people of this region.”
“He did make a vow to grace the 2023 World Twins Festival during the 2022 celebration. That he fulfilled his promise is a demonstration of his unrivalled way of life, which is keeping promises.
Ibarapakan expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his pledge to liaise with the federal government of Nigeria in order for his administration to take charge of the construction and rehabilitation of the Igboora-Iseyin road as soon as possible, which will link Ibarapa to every corner of Oyo State. In addition, he praised the governor for his extraordinary vision in organising a survey to establish the region’s first radio station. Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju asserted that information is important, just as a robust road network is a necessary component of faster development. The legislator emphasised that the fulfilment of the two promises will result in the development of not just Ibarapa Land but Oyo State as a whole.
While thanking the Governor for his presence, Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju appreciated the Deputy Governor of the State, Commissioners for Tourism and Culture, Youth and Sports, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, His Excellency Bayo Lawal, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, and Hon. Segun Olayiwola, respectively, for being part of the celebration.
Similarly, Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju conveyed his appreciation to the Osun State Executive Governor, His Excellency, Ademola Adeleke; Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi; Osun State Speaker of the House, RT. Hon. Prince Adewale Egbedun; all Osun State lawmakers, both federal and state; and Osun State cabinet members for their presence at the ceremony where his parents were bestowed with the titles of Asiwaju and Seye Asiwaju of Igboora Land on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju also thanked the entire members and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels for gracing the all-important occasion of the Igboora twins celebration.
Ibarapakan, however, praised all the organisers of this year’s twin festival and urged the traditional rulers, key players in community development, and Igboora sons and daughters to collaborate in order to realise this year’s twin festival’s theme, which is twining for community development.
