Parents and guardians have been admonished to instil moral and religious values in their children in order to eradicate all social vices such as rape, kidnapping, ritual killing, child abuse, sexual harassment, sexual violence and others.
The admonition was given by the wife of the Caretaker Chairman, Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area, Mrs Ifedolapo Adeojo during the sensitization campaign tagged ” SAY NO TO RAPE” in conjunction with the office of the office of the first lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency the wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr (Mrs) Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde.
The wife of the council boss who was represented by Mrs Tola Nihilola Rufus said charity begins at home hence the need to imbibe moral , religious teachings in order to exhibit good behaviour in the society. She also noted that parents should take adequate care of their children, be their friends, listen to their feelings and needs.
She decried the alarming increase in rape, kidnapping, ritual killing, sexual violence, sexual harassment cases in the country and said all hands must be on deck to ensure Nigeria becomes a better place for all and sundry. .
The campaign train which took off from the council Secretariat to Omi-Adio Divisional Police Headquarters where the wife of the chairman commended security agents for their efforts at reducing crime in our society and then charged them to intensify efforts.
Chairman of Omi-Apata LCDA , Hon Sheriff Adeojo, representative of the Chairperson Mrs Tola Rufus, Caretaker Committee, Head of Local Government Administration, Heads of Departments, Deputy Directors, Heads of Units and women representatives from wards were part of the train that also went to school, market and some areas within the LCDA where she urged students to be good friends with their parents and feel free to express their feelings and needs.
