The chairman, Nigeria Union of Tailors, Oyo state chapter, Mr Ojewale Oloyede, has poured encomiums on Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, as he engaged its members for the production of over one million face masks for residents in the state.
Oloyede stated this on Tuesday while speaking with GOALPOACHER NEWS correspondent, said, the union has concluded an arrangement with the state government to produce one million face masks.
He said, the association has selected 100 tailors across the thirty- three local government areas of the state based on the principle of fairness and equity to produce one million face masks as one of the measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
The chairman, who hinted that training is currently ongoing for the tailors, noted that the project is aimed at creating employment opportunities for its members.
The Chairman, gave an assurance that the association would deliver the project according to standard and specification outlined by Oyo State Government.
According to him, some of the sophisticated equipment for the production of the face masks are already being assembled in Ibadan.
It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde, while mandating the use of face mask in public, last week, expressed the readiness of his adminstration to produce one million face masks for the residents of Oyo state free of charge.
