YOUTHS, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: MAKINDE ADVISES BENEFICIARIES NOT TO SELL EQUIPMENT

The beneficiaries of the the Youths and women empowerment programme have been advised not to sell equipment given to them.

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde stated this at the empowerment programme organized by Aare Latosa LCDA held at the Council Secretariat.

Makinde stated that his administration focused majorly on youths and women empowerment in order to raise the standards at the grassroot.

The Governor who was represented by Hon. Tajudeen Babatunde aka Double T said all adorations are to God Almighty for seeing this administration through, through gradual fulfilment of the electioneering campaign promises. He also congratulated the man at the helms of affairs at the LCDA for his diligence, humane nature and people-oriented programmes he has embarked upon.

His Excellency therefore advised all the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment given them rather count themselves lucky to have gotten such dividends .

While delivering his keynote address, the power behind the laudable programme, the Caretaker Chairman, Aare Latosa LCDA, Hon. Oshoniyi Adewale Kazeem appreciated His Excellency for giving him the opportunity to serve in the capacity, acknowledged the grace of God on his life. He stated that the programme becomes imperative because poverty has to be eradicated or minimised in the State through empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes which are being embarked upon by the administration of His Excellency.

According to him, “in order to complement the efforts of His Excellency in impacting positively on the lives of our youths and women at the local government level hence today’s purposeful programme”

This programme was borne out of the zeal to make our youths and women self dependent financially and engaged in their various occupations as idle hands are devil’s workshop”, he added.

The Council boss further reiterated his commitment at bringing dividends of democracy to the people of Aare Latosa LCDA through laudable projects and welfare-based programmes.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sharafadeen, Aminu stressed that the programme was neccesitated in order to complement the efforts of His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde in bringing succour to youths and women in the State through poverty alleviation programme.

He added that the programme was aimed at reducing poverty at the grassroot to the bearest minimum

In their separate goodwill messages, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige; the Permanent Secretary, Min of Local Govt & Chieftaincy Matters; member, Oyo State Library board, Mrs Toyin Balogun; the former Chairman, Ibadan North LG, Hon. Demola Omotoso and Mr Olutunji Olatoye commended the Chairman for the impactful and people-oriented programmes embarked upon. They also charged the recipients to make good use of the equipments for financial growth and development.*

You will recall that the Chairman has impacted in different areas of concern to the public ranging from Renovation of Olive Basic School 1, Bodija; Sinking of 6 boreholes across the LCDA; distribution of School Uniforms, sandals and bags; skill acquisition programme and disbursement of take off grants, dredging of waterways just to mention a few.

The equipments that were presented to 100 Youths and women across the LCDA were Motorcycles, Deep freezers, Sewing machines, Grinding machines, Mechanical tools, Amplifiers, block making machines, hair dryers, Gas cookers, Cylinders etc*

The programme was graced by Government and political functionaries, notable dignitaries, management and staff of Aare Latosa LCDA.
