Anti-Corruption: OYACA Chair Warns Oyo Nursing College Against Sharp Practices

 

The Chairman, Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA), Hon. Justice Eni Esan (Rtd) has charged students of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, to imbibe anti-corruption spirit and prevent all forms of sharp practices in their personal lives and workplace dealings after their studies.

The retired judge said this in her speech titled “Fight Against Corruption: Roles of Stakeholders in Educational Institutions”, delivered at a sensitization and advocacy programme at the institution on Thursday.

Justice Esan hinted that the students would later become qualified medical health personnel in various health institutions across the world and must be conversant with corruptive tendencies that could hinder positive results in their efforts at providing healings for the people.

While describing corruption as abuse of position for personal gain, the Chairman said the medical practice and the entire economy of the country have been affected by corruption, calling on the students to be agents of change by spreading the gospel of anti-corruption at home and among their peers.

“We decided to extend our enlightenment campaigns to tertiary institutions and academic environments such as the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ibadan because of the key roles educational institutions can play in the fight against corruption, being the place where future leaders are trained and nurtured in different in different fields for the future development of the nation.

“For instance, my dear students, at the completion of your training here, you will become qualified medical personnel who will work in different heath sectors all over the world, therefore we want you to imbibe the anti-corruption spirit from the onset so as to guard against corruption and prevent all forms of corrupt practices that are predominat in the society.”

In her word, the Provost of the College, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi appreciated the Chairman, Board of Directors and management members of OYACA, promising that the school will leverage on the sensitization advocacy to harp on the need for piety in the health practice to the students.

Among the members of the OYACA board at the sensitization talk is Prince Oyebade Oyedepo, CSP Lawrence Eyindero and Mr Tijani I.O, the agency’s Executive Secretary, while some management members at hand include the Director Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mrs Folasade Ajibade and Mr Lere Omotoso who is the Director Administration and Supply.
