Beneficiaries of GSM Livestock Farmers Initiative from Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East Appreciate Makinde, Ologburo

The GSM Livestock Farmers Initiative, an empowering programme spearheaded by Oloye Babatunde Ologburo, has commenced the distribution of startup kits valued at over one million naira to selected participants.

This initiative, launched on March 15, 2024, at Anyx Continental Farm in Iya Ibeji Village, represents a significant philanthropic effort to bolster Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to youth empowerment in agriculture.

The initiative aims to support the training of 3,300 youths from the region, who participated in programmes at CSS Global Integrated Farms in Nasarawa State.

Alhaji Ologburo, the driving force behind the initiative, expressed his commitment to empowering young farmers by providing them with essential resources to kick-start their agricultural ventures.

Each beneficiary will receive a comprehensive startup kit that includes eight pregnant does, one young buck, improved Napier stem cuttings for one acre of land, and Gliricidia sepium seedlings for the same area, all valued at one million naira.

Project Coordinator Engineer Abdullateef AbdulSalaam confirmed that the livestock have adapted well to the local environment and are ready for distribution.

He noted that the irregular rain patterns this year have led to an unexpected growth of pastures, which will also be provided to beneficiaries.

“During the training, we instructed participants to prepare land for grass cultivation and provide adequate shelter for the animals,” AbdulSalaam explained.

“Only those who have met these requirements will receive the items. We will also offer support services to ensure the sustainability of their farming activities.”

Two beneficiaries, Jimoh Afeez Bolaji from Ibarapa North and Folarin Moses Opeyemi from Ibarapa East, received their animals yesterday, marking a significant milestone in the initiative.

Both expressed their gratitude towards Governor Makinde and Ologburo for the opportunity to enhance their livelihoods through agriculture.

Jimoh Afeez Bolaji stated, “I am extremely grateful to Governor Makinde for believing in us and providing this opportunity. This initiative will change our lives and those of our families.”

Folarin Moses Opeyemi echoed this sentiment, saying, “Thank you, Governor Makinde and Ologburo, for supporting our dreams. We are determined to succeed and make you proud.”
