Cholera: Ibadan Southeast LG Boss, Hon. Alawode Tasks Residents on Call to Action

In a bid to curb the spread of the deadly cholera outbreak, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Southeast Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode, has issued a resounding call to action to residents in the local government.

In a statement, Alawode said: “The time to act is now. We must work together to prevent the further spread of this disease.”

“Cholera is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease that can be easily prevented with proper hygiene practices and access to clean water.”

Alawode emphasised the importance of simple yet effective measures such as regular handwashing, maintaining clean environments, and safe disposal of human waste to stem the tide of the cholera epidemic.

He also implored residents to be vigilant in their personal hygiene practices and seek prompt medical attention if they experience any symptoms associated with the disease, including severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration.

“We must be proactive in our approach to this public health crisis. It is only through cooperation and adherence to recommended health guidelines that we can successfully combat this outbreak,” Alawode said.

The council boss further urged residents to educate themselves on the signs and symptoms of cholera, as well as the steps they can take to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“The spread of cholera is often fueled by ignorance and misinformation. We must all be informed and take the necessary precautions,” Alawode concluded.
