Diaspora Voting Sensitive,Requires Constitutional Amendment– Akande Sadipe
Chairperson, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Hon. Tolu Akande-Sadipe K on an oversight visit to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) at the State House Abuja.
The Chairperson assured Nigerians that Diaspora Voting would soon be a thing of the past and the Committee has been working on a Bill in line with with the various stakeholders meeting and workshop results.
Akande-Sadipe also noted that Diaspora Voting is a very sensitive issue and requires constitutional amendment as such cannot be rushed.
The lawmaker said leveraging the resources of Diasporians is a key to economic growth and that there is an impact and huge contributions of the Diasporans to the country national development, hence the need for them to participate in the electoral process of the Nation.
Akande-Sadipe made mention that the Committee is also working to ensure that there are programs to capture Nigerian childrens in diapora to learn more about our culture in their homeland.
The host, Hon. Abike Dabri Erewa in her remarks appreciated the committee for helping the commision grow, she said the continuous support and solidarity under the Leadership of Hon Tolulope Akande-Sadipe
The Chairperson, Akande-Sadipe assured the commission of the continuous support from the committee and the House of Representatives collaboration wherever applicable.
