The Chairman of Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Akin Fagbemi has called all the heads of secondary facilities across the 44 hospitals to support the healthcare agenda of Omituntun 2.0.
Fagbemi stated this during a strategic meeting with hospitals heads alongside board of directors for the first time after the assumption of office on 21st June at Koltol Hotel Ikolaba area Ibadan.
The Chairman used the opportunity to appreciate His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity and trust reposed in him to manage the Hospital Management Board at this time and his generosity in approving the recruitment of various categories of health workers.
He informed everyone that his coming to the Hospital Management Board was purposeful and intentional by Governor Seyi Makinde and it was nothing more than a diligent pursuit and realization of the sustainable healthcare agenda component of the Omituntun 2.0.
Mogaji Akin Fagbemi seized the opportunity to appreciate the Honourable Commissioner for Health who held forth to supervise the Hospital Management Board in the absence of a sitting chairman.
He also thanked profusely all the development partners supporting health programs and initiatives for all these years.
After an extensive and exhaustive engagement with the head of facilities, he made it clear that the reason why the Governor sent him to lead the Hospital Management Board at this time is that he wants visible impacts and improvement in our services and public perception. Therefore it’s not going to be business as usual. He highlighted some policies that must take immediate effect which include –
1. Any donation or intervention and support from philanthropists and well-meaning Citizens should be formally reported to the Board so that they be properly appreciated and recognized and also brought to the attention of His Excellency
2. There must be a management meeting in each of the hospitals statutorily fixed and major departments must be present
3. All heads of Hospital must properly take charge of the facility under them as they will be held responsible for any lapses or mismanagement that occurred there.
4. There must be a time book in each facility and all officers must sign in and out
5. The Movement book must be signed by anyone going out of the hospital premises with due permission from the head of department and if it is head of department. Permission will be from the head of the facility
6. Unscheduled inspection of all facilities is starting immediately
7. Henceforth, good conduct and diligence shall be rewarded and laxity punished
8. Issues of truancy and absenteeism must be frontally addressed and no one will be spared
9. From now on, any erring officers shall be sanctioned in line with the accountability framework
10. Use of Government properties including ambulances must be well monitored and unauthorized private uses should be stopped immediately
11. Financial integrity should be upheld and transactions must be well documented and adequately reported- registrations, investigations, surgeries, etc.

He assured everyone that he would try his best towards the implementation of the sustainable agenda of Omituntun 2.0 and canvassed for the support and cooperation of all and sundry. Towards this end, the meeting with the heads of hospitals shall be coming up every month so that we can quickly fix all the areas of need and if we have covered substantial mileage the frequency of the meeting can be reduced thereafter to quarterly.
