Foremost Activist, AWA Bamiji, Set To Quit Bachelorhood

After decades of revolutionary but silent struggles, which are highly impactful, by God’s grace, our handsome, highly committed and dedicated Rights’ Activist, Youth Developer, Economist, visionary of all seasons, Leader of Leaders in youth and Students’ movement, events Organiser, Master Strategist of decades, mighty but simple in appearance, the man with large and lion heart, Comrade Alarape Wahab Animasahun (AWA) Bamiji, will be stepping out of bachelorhood on Saturday 28/05/22 at Centre for Religious Tolerance and Cooperation (CRTC), Shafaudeen International Conference Centre, Wakajaiye, Iyana Church, Iwo Road, Ibadan, by 11am, as he gets married to Fatimah Olorunnisola Idowu Maliki, a mass Communication Expert.

It is expected that all roads leading to Ibadan will be busy this date as invitation has been extended, soft and hard copies, to the Leaders of Thought, from peak to the grassroots, Ethnic Groups’, Women, Youth and Students’ Leaders across Nigeria as our Guests of Honour. Whoever that hasn’t gotten one before now should take the one attached to this Press statement as his or her own. “Please, let’s give honour to whom is due?”

It is important to note that Comrade Awa Bamiji, the Executive President, Bola Ige Centre for Justice; Secretary, Beko Ransome – Kuti memorial Committee; Great Mobiliser of Decades, June 12 anniversary; President General, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths and National Coordinator, Coalition for A Better Nigeria, is a household name not only in Nigeria but in the whole World at large. We thank God for his life, for sacrificing this much on the field of struggles on our behalf before calling
bachelorship a quit.

It is now time to roll out drums and blow trumpets to celebrate the man of many paths, who has been making the Yoruba Nation proud in terms of his enviable personality and organising events to honour both living and dead Yoruba Legends of time. He and President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, crossed their paths for the first time in history through the inauguration of Bola Ige Centre for Justice, which also attracted attention of the 2 former Presidents of South Africa, Dr Nelson Mandela and Mr Tambo Mbeki, held at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, in the year 2004, before the relationship turned to be highly productive for the latter during the 2015 and 2019 Presidential elections because mass mobilisation efforts of this our erudite Comrade, AWA Bamiji, since 1992/1993 general elections till date stands him out among the pack.

The mega Protest, against the ongoing voters’ registration exercise, of the Coalition for A Better Nigeria in 2011, which emanated with mamoth crowd from the NLC Office in Yaba to Governor’s Office, Alausa, routed through the INEC Office, also in Yaba, shook the whole Country, which made the sitting President, Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, to send a letter of consent same day to Governor Babatunde Fashola, SAN, asking him to appeal to the Organiser before the intimidating Rally could snowball into a bigger crisis in Nigeria. He then confirmed that the protest had made Federal Government to add one week to initially scheduled 2 weeks of the shaky exercise that the whole Nation has been condemning for the past one week. What a great lifetime achievement of a patriotic individual?

Since Coalition for A Better Nigeria is an alliance of hundreds of Youths’ and Students’ Organisations within and outside Nigeria inaugurated in 2009 at Rockview Hotel, FESTAC Town, Lagos, as a powerful youth network to reckon with globally with the blessings of Nigerian Political, Religious and Social Leaders, in the likes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Dr Chris Ngige Mr Ayo Afolabi and several other prominent Nigerians, therefore, it is imcubent on us to carry everybody across board along in this historic arrangement which is coming up 1 or 2 days to the Presidential Election Primaries in Nigeria.
