Gas Infrastructure Boost for Oyo State: Shell, Oyo Govt Hold Stakeholder Forum
In a step towards expanding gas infrastructure in Oyo State, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in collaboration with Shell Nigeria Gas, has held a customer and stakeholders forum.
The aim of the forum was to update sector off-takers on recent developments and to highlight the medium and long-term benefits of the gas infrastructure project to the local economy, particularly in the areas of energy security and economic growth.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Barrister Seun Ashamu, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the infrastructure project, stating: “His Excellency, Seyi Makinde led Oyo State Government remains committed to this critical gas infrastructure project, which will undoubtedly enhance the economic development of our state.”
He said the state government recognizes the critical role of gas as a catalyst for economic development, and it’s fully committed to the successful completion of this project.
This infrastructure, Ashamu said, will not only provide a reliable and affordable source of energy for people of the state but also open up new opportunities for investment and economic growth.
The commissioner also noted the importance of engaging with stakeholders throughout the project development and implementation process.
“We must ensure that this project benefits not only our state but also the surrounding communities and the people of Oyo State as a whole.”
“It is essential that we work together to address any concerns and ensure that the project is implemented in a way that is both sustainable and equitable.”
Shell Nigeria Gas, represented by its management team, also provided updates on the progress of the project and the potential impact on local businesses and communities.
According to the Shell team, the project will not only improve access to clean and affordable energy sources but will also create employment opportunities for locals in the state.
