Hon Olorunpoto Pens Heartfelt New Year Message to Constituents in Oyo East/Oyo West
The lawmaker representing Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Olorunpoto Rahaman has extended his warm felicitations to members of his constituents.
His New Year message was contained in a statement signed by the astute lawmaker and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
Dear Compatriots,
Happy New Year! As we usher in 2025 with hope and determination, I extend my warmest wishes to all individuals, families, and communities in Oyo East and Oyo West State Constituency. May this year bring peace, prosperity, and progress to us all.
Reflecting on our journey since assuming office in June 2023, I am proud to highlight the strides we have made together:
1. Renovating and Reactivating the Customary Court, Grade A, Oyo, in collaboration with Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, ensuring justice delivery for our people.
2. Reopening 23 basic schools closed for almost 11 years due to a land dispute between Oyo and Afijio.
3. Facilitating employment opportunities for 81 constituents across various state agencies, including Amotekun, OYRTMA, Hospital Management Board, SUBEB, and TESCOM.
4. Elevating minor chiefs to Part 2 chiefs, a significant milestone for our traditional council.
5. Facilitating the renovation of the Ajayi Crowther University road, which has saved countless lives.
6. Facilitating the reconstruction of the Enuoroba/Pakoyi culvert, reconnecting gaari producers in the neighborhood to road access after years of neglect. This project was carried out by the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) under the leadership of Hon. Adeaga. I facilitated this reconstruction alongside Prof. Musibau Babatunde, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
7. Organizing town halls and community visits to address security issues and sensitize leaders to agribusiness opportunities at Fashola.
8. Renovating the Accident and Emergency Ward at the Oyo State Hospital, Owode, Oyo.
9. Facilitating borehole projects at Winners area, Cele, and Kosobo to improve access to clean water (construction ongoing).
10. Ongoing total renovation of a block of classrooms at Community Basic School, Ajagba—one of the recently reopened schools—due for completion by January 27, 2025.
11. Ongoing construction of a police post at Fashola Town, scheduled to be commissioned as part of the 2nd-year-in-office celebration in June 2025.
12. Providing Olympic-standard table tennis boards and streetlights to enhance community engagement and safety.
13. Presenting impactful motions on critical community issues, including the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital annex, road rehabilitations, and the completion of the Silo Project.
14. Empowering farmers in our constituency with fertilizers, seedlings, and essential farm implements. This project, planned for the first quarter of 2025, is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and boosting food security.
These milestones represent our shared commitment to development and progress. As we look forward to 2025, we are determined to achieve even more. The Governor’s commitment to massive road construction works, as captured in the 2025 Appropriation, is a key highlight for our constituency. Additionally, I remain steadfast in advocating for the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital annex and the long-overdue completion of the Silo Project.
This year, I am delighted to announce the return of the PotoSeyi 5-Aside Neighborhood Football Tournament, an event that fosters unity and showcases local talent. The final stages of this year’s tournament will be held on a new standard 5-aside pitch, which will be constructed in 2025.
Let us continue to work in unity and inclusiveness, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we will make 2025 a year of transformation and shared success.
Thank you for your trust and support. May this year bring abundant blessings to us all.
Warm regards,
Hon. Olorunpoto Rahaman
Member, Oyo State House of Assembly
(Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency)
