As part of his plans to invest in agriculture and boost food security, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye on Monday hosted All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Akinyele Local Government Chapter
While hosting the group at the council’s Secretariat at Moniya, Hon Akinleye noted that agriculture remains one of his cardinal agenda in boosting the economy of his council.
A statement by his media aide, Ogundipe Miracle quoted the Executive Chairman stressing the importance of the collaboration with the farmers with the aim of enhancing food security and cushioning food price hike that Nigerians are battling with nationwide.
“It’s my pleasure to host all our hardworking farmers today. No nation can thrive when farmers are poorly treated.
“I want to assure you of partnership with the Farmers Association, this will go a long way in motivating our farmers to improve on their productivities to enhance food security in our local government.
“We have arable lands in our council and I will urge you all to embark on commercial farming since we are still in the planting season.
“Our amiable leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has fortified the security architecture of the entire state and Akinyele remains one of the safest councils in Oyo State.
“The era when farmers could not go to their various farms due to insecurity had become a thing of the past, therefore, in Akinyele, we’ll key into Governor Seyi Makinde’s Agric revolution by collaborating with the Ministry of Agric and Rural Development to facilitate seedlings and other benefits for our farmers to enhace their productive capacity.”
In his remarks, the Chairman , Farmers Association of Nigeria , Akinyele chapter, Chief Ademola Ademosu appreciated the Executive Chairman, Hon Wole Akinleye for the warm reception and more more importantly for making agriculture one of his cardinal agenda.
He further reiterated the readiness of the association to collaborate with the Local Government to promote to enhance sufficient food production.
