‘I Won’t Allow Vagabonds Hold PDP Hostage For Another Party To Be In Power’ — Makinde Fires Wike, Others

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has vowed not to allow what he described as “vagabonds” to hijack the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a manner that could pave the way for another political party to assume power in the state.

Newsbreaknaija reports that Governor Makinde made the declaration on Tuesday while addressing party leaders and members at the newly built Oyo State PDP Secretariat in Ibadan, during an event attended by key stakeholders across the state.

The governor, speaking emphatically, said his administration and loyal party members would resist any attempt by disgruntled elements to undermine the stability, unity, and electoral strength of the PDP for selfish interests.

Reflecting on past political alliances, the governor admitted that he had once worked closely with some of the individuals now working against the party, but stressed that he had since distanced himself from them.

“The first thing I want to say is that, in Yorubaland, we always say that if you see a house or a compound that is peaceful, it is because the vagabond in that house has not yet grown up.

“The vagabonds in PDP grew up in 2015, had their time, and in 10 years, a decade, they practiced their ‘vagabondcy’ in the PDP. But they were expelled in November 2025. So, no more vagabonds in PDP.”

“I once dined and wined with them. I even puked with them, but I have repented,” he added.

Governor Makinde emphasized that the PDP in Oyo State remains the authentic platform for progressive governance, adding that internal disputes and distractions would not be allowed to derail the party’s focus on delivering good governance to the people.

He further expressed confidence in the judiciary, stating that ongoing legal battles involving the party would ultimately be resolved in PDP’s favour.

“I believe strongly in the judiciary. At the end of the day, justice will be done, and the PDP will get justice,” the governor said.
