There was an atmosphere of joy, unity, and renewed commitment as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government held its final local government meeting for the year 2025, drawing a mammoth crowd of party members, leaders, and executives.
The well-attended meeting, described by many as electrifying and historic, witnessed an impressive turnout that reflected the growing strength and cohesion of the party in Ibadan North.
Members thronged the yemetu venue in large numbers, eager to participate in what marked a fitting end to the party’s activities for the year.
As part of the festive season gestures, party members joyfully received goodwill messages and generous donations from key PDP leaders.
Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, demonstrated his continued commitment to grassroots party members by donating 24 bags of rice, ensuring that each of the 12 wards in Ibadan North Local Government received two bags each.
In the same spirit, the Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don), further boosted the celebrations by donating 10 bags of rice to each of the 12 wards, a gesture that was greeted with loud cheers and appreciation.
Beyond food items, the meeting recorded another major highlight as elected officials and political appointees from Ibadan North Local Government collectively donated ₦12 million, which was equitably distributed across the 12 wards.
Each ward received ₦1 million, broken down as follows: ₦300,000 for ward leaders, ₦200,000 for ward executives, and ₦500,000 for ward members.
The development sparked spontaneous jubilation among PDP faithful in Yemetu, as members broke into songs, openly praising the leadership style and achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of PDP in Ibadan North Local Government, Comrade Mustapha, expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, as well as all elected and appointed officers from the local government, commending them for their unwavering support, generosity, and spirit of oneness within the party.
In his remarks, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade urged party members to remain committed, disciplined, and dedicated to the growth and progress of the PDP.
He assured members that the 2026 foodstuffs and monetary support package would be significantly bigger, reinforcing the leadership’s resolve to prioritize party welfare.
Also addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Hon. Falana Adebowale Falana, encouraged members to intensify grassroots mobilization and persuade more people to join the PDP, stressing that the party remains the true platform for development in Oyo State.
The Oyo State PDP Public Relations Officer, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, thanked members for their steadfast support and for consistently projecting the party’s image positively.
He emphasized that PDP remains the dominant and most formidable political party in Ibadan North Local Government.
Adding his voice, Baba Ismaila Ashipa noted that the presence of a representative at the Federal House of Representatives has brought increased dividends of democracy to the area.
He urged members to guard and maximize the opportunity by sustaining party loyalty and unity.
Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don), who was present at the meeting, rejoiced with party members and offered prayers for a peaceful and prosperous festive season, expressing optimism for greater achievements ahead.
All elected and appointed officers from Ibadan North Local Government participated in the monetary donation.
The meeting ended on a high note as refreshment was shared to all party members, reaffirming PDP’s dominance, unity, and readiness to consolidate its gains in Ibadan North Local Government as the party marches into 2026 with renewed confidence.
