The stakeholders called on Oyo State government and people of Ibadanland to call Ajorosun LCDA and Egbeda Local Government into order over the issue.

A statement issued by the President, Association of Mogajis of Ibadanland, Mogaji Asimiyu Adepoju Ariori and ICPI Coordinator, Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade maintained that the space should not be sold to outsiders as it was being done to other properties in the City.

The duo urged Ajorosun LCDA and Egbeda Local Government to consider the interest of Ibadan people and the entire populace, particularly people living in the area because before selling the space out.

“The space will be very useful as a common space for people for the purpose of scenerity and beautification.”

The stakeholders cited an example of Abuja and Lagos, where the government there beautified the city.

The stakeholders while commending governor Makinde for beautifying the state, said such effort should not be soiled because the space has potential to become a place of attraction where everyone will be proud of and wish to associate with.

“There is a particular open space around 7up in Ajorosun LCDA, under Egbeda Local Government where traders surrounded. We are aware that the local government want to sell the space for some Igbos to build either fuel station or shopping complex

“But a prominent son of Ibadanland was denied when he showed interest in buying the space. He want to buy it so that it can be of benefit to people in the area, he is ready to buy it with millions of naira from the local government, for the use of the generalities of the people of the area.

“All effort of the Ibadan man has been frustrated because the local government want to sell the space for the said Igbo man.”
