The Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sikiru Sanda Oyedele has offered his condolences to the victims of Ibadan Funfair tragedy which resulted in the deaths of 35 children.
Hon Sanda said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives, especially children, in the stampede that occurred at the children’s funfair at Bashorun Islamic Grammar School.
He commended the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde for the proactive steps taken to restore peace to the venue.
“I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray that they find the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss.
“I commend the Oyo State Government for their prompt response, which helped prevent further casualties.
“The swift deployment of a rapid response team and the transportation of victims to various hospitals for medical attention demonstrate the government’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens.
“I urge the public to remain calm and supportive of the affected families during this difficult time.
“May the souls of the departed children rest in peace”.
