Ibarapakan Facilitates Six Transformers, to Replace All Faulty Electric Poles from Eruwa to Igangan

In a pragmatic move to address the epileptic power supply in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, member representing the constituency, has successfully facilitated six transformers in the federal constituency.

In his remarks on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Hon. Adepoju expressed that the poor state of electricity in the five communities has made him lose sleep since given the mandate to serve in 2023.

The lawmaker said no significant development would take place in an environment where electricity is never available, highlighting his efforts to ensure speedy completion of the power station project that commenced in 2009 in Ibarapa Land.

Hon. Adepoju stated that his on-the-spot assessment of the electricity facilities in Ibarapa showed that the majority of the electric poles from Eruwa to Igangan, especially Idere to Igangan, are completely faulty, as a good number of areas from Igboora to Igangan lack adequate transformers to enable the five communities to enjoy stable electricity supply just like neighbouring communities such as Eruwa, Lanlate and Ido; the problem, he said, has been on for more than a decade.

According to Hon. Adepoju, two of the new transformers will be in Igboora, one in Idere, one in Ayete, one in Tapa and one in Igangan.

The lawmaker said the six transformers would come in batches, commencing from Igboora this month of December 2024. He said the reason is because only Igboora and a section of Idere community have electricity supply once in a while, saying that once all the electric problems from Igboora and Idere are addressed, the development will connect electricity to every part of the rest of the communities in the federal constituency.

Hon. Adepoju said that the replacement of all the faulty electric poles from Eruwa to Igangan would also commence in the first/second quarter of the year 2025, seeking the support of the five communities in ensuring that the issue of lack of electricity supply in the constituency becomes a thing of the past.

The lawmaker urged the community members to give the engineers that will be in the constituency to install the electricity/electrical facilities in a few days time their maximum support so as to collectively solve the problem that has kept the region in perpetual darkness and a state of underdevelopment for years.

He also used the opportunity to thank all the teachers and students in the constituency for a job well done, “as we are currently experiencing better academic results that gladden our hearts.” The lawmaker also approved the suspension of the Ibarapakan free holiday lesson for the Yuletide break to enable families enjoy the festive season together. Hon. Adepoju looks forward to being in the constituency during the break and prayed for a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
