Ibarapakan Flags-off Construction of Public Library in Igboora as Peace Oladosu Performs Foundation-Laying Ceremony

Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has held the foundation-laying ceremony of a state-of-the-art public library in Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The foundation-laying exercise of the first public constituency library was carried out by Hon. (Miss) Peace Oluwaseyi Oladosu, the first One-Day House of Representatives member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, in the presence of traditional rulers, community leaders and significant stakeholders in the educational sector.

Hon. Adepoju had previously stated that the bold decision was made to honour Hon. Peace and to motivate teenagers like her in the constituency and to demonstrate his administration’s commitment to child education.

At the event, all 21 public secondary schools in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency were represented by five students each accompanied by their teachers.

According to the headcount of students conducted across the federal constituency between Tuesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Ayete, 1,056 students were counted in all the three public secondary schools in the community; in Tapa, 1,153 students were counted in all the two public secondary schools in the community; while in Igangan, 1,654 students were counted in all the four public secondary schools in the community, culminating in a total of 3,863 students in Ibarapa North.

For Ibarapa Central, in Igboora, 5,350 students were collated in all the nine public secondary schools in the community, while in Idere, 1,685 students were counted in the three public secondary schools in the community, totalling 7,035 students in Ibarapa Central. According to the calculations, 10,898 pupils will benefit from the instructional materials in the federal constituency, in addition to the twenty instructional materials that the lawmaker has also promised to deliver to teachers from these 21 schools.

Representing Hon. Adepoju at the epoch-making event, Hon. Bisi Akande, who is the Executive Vice Chairman and Political Head of Ibarapa North/West Local Council Development Area, Igangan (LCDA), said the development was a turning point on the constituency’s path towards advancement, growth and a better future.

“Today, we have come together as one community to hold the foundation-laying ceremony of a state-of-the-art public library facilitated by Hon. (Dr) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju aimed at enhancing access to information, supporting research, preserving cultural heritage and enriching the intellectual sanctuary of the teeming population of our beloved constituency. To complement the continuous efforts of the Oyo State government on education, Hon. Adepoju has also deemed it fit to distribute academic instructional materials such as exercise books, mathematical sets and school bags to 10,898 students whose data was collected through the head count exercise carried out by the lawmaker’s team on the 21 public secondary schools in the constituency. This is primarily to have a data-driven exercise and to have a fair and balanced sharing in the allocation of the instructional materials.

“Ordinarily, Hon. Adepoju would have loved to be here today, sharing this historic event with us, but was unavoidably absent due to a national assignment that warranted him to leave home for Abuja, the nation’s capital, barely 10 hours before this epoch-making event, having first arrived home for the programme. But as a part of his way of not lording anything over anyone, he had asked us to proceed with the programme as planned today,” the speech read in parts.

Hon. Bisi said that the project, when completed, will go a long way in supporting research, innovation and preservation of the constituency’s history, culture and heritage, as well as building a cohesive community through social connections and community engagement.

“To demonstrate his unrelenting efforts and uncompromising desire for total infrastructural, educational and social development, Hon. Adepoju, in the last 21 months of his stewardship, has facilitated blocks of classrooms in every five principal communities comprising Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, namely: Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan, to bridge infrastructural deficit in our constituency’s academic environment. He has captured virtually every area of human needs by demystifying representation in so many areas including but not limited to job opportunities for at least 150 constituents in the last 21 months in office, three empowerment programmes with incentives for constituents in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, supporting our farmers through provision of fertilizers, construction of three garri processing plants, construction of a greenhouse as well as planning to purchase tractors to eliminate the need for them to pay exorbitant fees to cultivate their land for planting various crops, thereby boosting their productivity and achieving the sustainable goal of food security in our constituency. His facilitation of the construction of the Sagaun-Onimangoro road has not only made life easy for our constituents but also significantly boosted business activities in our community. His efforts in providing clean water to constituents in towns and villages by drilling mega motorised boreholes have improved the health condition of our people. His laudable plan to upgrade and reconstruct Igangan Town Hall into a modern town hall, vocational and examination centres where our residents can have their social events, different skill acquisition and examination centres, such as JAMB, has renewed the trust and hope of our constituents at home and abroad. Without mincing words, his hope of the possibility of having a federal medical centre in this constituency will not only save lives but also improve the general wellbeing of people, thereby getting faster access to urgent medical attention when the time calls.

“In all of these, Hon. Adepoju attributes the success of his administration thus far to God Almighty, whose cornucopic blessings have been immeasurable; the brilliant contribution of his wife for being a pillar of support; constituents in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North for their prayers and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also appreciates his leader and mentor, His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde, for his leadership sagacity, which has endeared him to everyone and whom he said without, he would not have known where he would be,” he expressed.

In her own speech, Hon. Peace Oluwaseyi Oladosu remarked that it was with great honour that she stood before everybody at the event as the first One-Day House of Representatives Member in Nigeria, representing the ever-supportive and vibrant people of Ibarapa Central and North Constituency. She expressed that she was deeply grateful to be part of the historic event—the laying of the foundation of the first-ever public library in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

“Expressing gratitude can never be too much, and so I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Hon. (Dr) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the Honourable Member representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, for his unwavering efforts in making the Ibarapa region better and ensuring we experience the dividends of democracy. His dedication to the well-being of his people continues to bring hope and progress to our region. Indeed, his vision has positively transformed Ibarapa Central/North Constituency.

“Today is not just about laying the foundation and building a library; it is about empowering young minds and motivating students. It is an avenue for learning, empowerment and progress. A library is truly a school within a school, a learning space on its own—a place where students can acquire knowledge, conduct research and assimilate information with ease,” she said.

Peace also detailed how impactful the library would be on the lives of everyone in the constituency. “This initiative is a thoughtful project that will enable students to learn effectively, unlock their potential and invest more in their education. It will also position the Ibarapa region as a hub known for its groundbreaking achievements in the educational sector.”

“To all the politicians here today, thank you for your presence and unwavering support. Your commitment to our community’s growth is highly appreciated.

“To the students gathered here, I urge you to take full advantage of the opportunities this library will offer once it is completed. Let us dream big, set high expectations and continue reading and learning. Education remains the most powerful weapon to change the world. Our constituency needs us, Nigeria needs us and we must rise to the challenge of making a positive difference. There are countless opportunities before us, and we must seize them. Remember, education is transformational—it changes lives.

“Who knows? Perhaps the next One-Day House of Representatives Member is right here among us, patiently listening to their predecessor. I eagerly look forward to knowing who my successor will be.

“To my beloved parents, thank you for your constant support and guidance. Your encouragement has been my strength, and I remain grateful for your unwavering love,” she expressed.

Speaking on behalf of all the traditional rulers from Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, HRM Oba Titiloye O Sunday extended the appreciation of all the royal fathers in the constituency to Hon. Adepoju for being a lawmaker with a difference. In his remarks, the traditional ruler commended the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character for doing those things that are giving Ibarapa Land good names everywhere. He urged all students in the constituency to make good use of the library in order to excel in their respective career paths.

The monarch also said that Hon. Adepoju meant well for the youth of the constituency, which is the reason why he continues to bring those facilities that will ensure full realisation of their potential. He prayed to God to protect and spare the life of the lawmaker for the betterment of the constituency.

Remi Ayoade, all councillors from Ibarapa Central, traditional rulers from the five communities in the constituency, PDP leaders in the two local government areas; students and teachers from each of the 21 secondary schools in the constituency; community people, etc.
