Ibarapakan hosts Muslim faithful to Ramadan Lecture and Iftar
As the ninth month in the Islamic calendar proceeds, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has enjoined Muslim faithful in Ibarapa Land to use the moment to pray for the development of our nation especially the Ibarapa region of Oyo State.
The lawmaker said this on Sunday, March 24, 2024, when he hosted Muslims to a Ramadan lecture and Iftar (breaking of fast) at his country home, Igboora.
Ibarapakan, while addressing the Muslim faithful from across the seven towns that make up Ibarapa Land, emphasised the need to pray for everything that concerns the region, including political leaders in their efforts to give a meaningful life to the residents of the geopolitical zone.
According to him, by working together and seeking divine guidance, the people of Ibarapa Land can achieve great things.
“This special time of fasting is an opportunity to come together in faith and hope for a better future. Let us all use this month to seek peace and understanding and to reflect on the teachings of Islam,” he said.
The technocrat cum politician also lauded the feat that Ibarapa has attained over the years, especially in terms of religious tolerance and the coexistence of people of different religious beliefs in the region.
He underscored the significant role of religious institutions in nation-building, highlighting how a righteous and virtuous society is key to national prosperity. He called on all residents to continue to uphold the values of truth, justice and companion.
The lawmaker also seized the moment of the iftar to address the issue of government palliative, saying he would never hoard what is capable of bringing succour to his constituents. He noted that the palliative is being handled by the Ministry of Agriculture. He stated that once the palliative is received, it will be distributed fairly and transparently, just like he is doing on all the physical projects he has brought to the constituency within the few months in office.
The League of Imams, in their remarks, described the event as unprecedented and the first of its kind to be hosted by a sitting House of Representatives member who is not even a Muslim, praying for the success of the lawmaker’s vision for the region.
In attendance at the event were the honourable member representing Ibarapa Central/North State Constituency, Hon. Peter Gbadegesin Ojedokun, the Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Hon. Monsuru Oduola, Member of the State Elders Council Chief, Ademola Eyinade, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matters, Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi, Chief Kolawole Olanrele, the local government area Chairman of Ibarapa Central and North local governments, Hon.
