“I’m Wike’s Person” Fayose Restates Allegiance to FCT Minister
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has restated his allegiance to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, while dismissing speculation that he is preparing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a television interview, Fayose said that despite the internal wrangling rocking the PDP, he has no intention of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He launched a scathing critique of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of abusing power and weakening the PDP structure across the South-West. According to Fayose, many of those who worked for Makinde’s rise have been sidelined, while key party structures have been dismantled.
“Almost everybody who worked for his ascension has been driven away,” he said, alleging further that valuable state assets had been taken over under Makinde’s watch. He added that the Oyo governor had “destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West.”
Fayose also questioned internal party processes in Osun State, alleging that a candidate who did not obtain nomination forms eventually emerged as the party’s flag bearer, a development he said undermines internal democracy.
He further claimed he was attacked during a political event in the state, insisting Makinde orchestrated the incident.
Describing himself as an independent political figure, Fayose said he rose to power without a “godfather,” adding, “I fought my governorship without a godfather.”
Declaring his political alignment, the former governor said: “I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am.”
However, he stressed that, despite disagreements within the party, he remains committed to the PDP and “will never join the APC.”
