Iwo Road Clash: Your Reaction Demeaning, Unfortunate, Makinde’s Ally, Adeleke Lashes Adeolu Akande
Oyo PDP stalwart, Dare Adeleke has described a statement ascribed to Professor Adeolu Akande over violent disturbances in Iwo Road, Ibadan, Thursday, as unfortunate and demeaning for a man of his statements.
According to Adeleke, the “misleading statements which were published on-line diminished the person who uttered them and showed him to be a desperate being who would seek power at the cost of tragedy”.
Professor Adeolu Akande
who is the Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), had inferred that the constant breakdown of law and order in parts of the state was because of Governor Seyi Makinde affinity with some of the individuals being fingered in the crisis to get to the root of the matter.
Reacting to the allegations, Adeleke said: “Akande is only grabbing at dry straws and desperately holding on to them hoping to use them as instruments to pole vault a shaky gubernatorial ambition. Unfortunately, dry straws break and cannot hold any weight, just like his mouthing of falsehood against His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde.”
Adeleke states further: “Using security issues as a means of lunching your gubernatorial ambition ambition, will not fly. The people of Oyo State are wiser than you think.”
Adeleke noted that the people know the truth. “Some of these issues have been in existence for a very long time. When Ajimobi was in power, the APC unleashed a reign of terror with their area boys and thugs. If for anything, Makinde has brought down those violence, drastically. It would be recalled that one of the first things he did upon assuming power in 2019, was disbanding the NURTW. A move which the same APC resisted with all their might.”
Adeleke stressed that the APC have formed a stumbling block to progress since the beginning of Makinde’s administration. “Can we now put it past them that they are the ones sponsoring and supporting violence across the state?
Is it not bizarre that rather than join the train of progress, console victims in all sobriety, they use every opportunity to attack the government and spread all kinds of fake news?”
Adeleke expressed confidence that the people are with the Governor and not even the likes of Akande can change the fact: “We have had enough of your rhetorics. We are comfortable with GSM. Akande should try and look for other ways to further his wobbly ambition.”
Reacting to calls by an interest group of the APC, Oyo Must be Great Again, for the disbandment of of the PMS, Adeleke states:
“We will not disband the park managers. APC’s agenda to make the state ungovernable will not work.”
