Lekan Salami Stadium:Oyo SWAN Lauds Makinde, Seeks Upgrade of Other Stadia
Communique issued at the end of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo state chapter Congress held at NUJ Secretariat on Tuesday, 25th August 2020
The congress commended Oyo state government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde over the ongoing remodeling of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
The congress also urged the governor to extend the gesture to other stadia in the state, such as Olubadan stadium in Ibadan Durbar Stadium in Oyo town, Ogbomoso Township Stadium in Ogbomoso, Eleruwa Stadium in Eruwa among others in the state.
The Congress frowned at the exploitation of sports writers by some media owners in the state. It therefore urged the Media houses to halt the practice which is inimical to the progress of the profession at large.
The congress appealed to sports writers to be in tune with the development of the profession.
Members were also encouraged to adhere with the safely protocols and practices in view of the Coronavirus pandemic while discharging their duties.
The congress resolved to conduct a free, credible, fair and acceptable election that will usher in a new executive members for the association.
It therefore approved the constitution of a three-man- electoral committee comprising Mr. Raji Adebayo (DAILY INDEPENDENT Newspaper) Mr. Akeem Abas (News Agency of Nigeria) and Mr. Ayomiku Ajibola (Nigeria Television Authority).
