LG Election:Why Moniya Should Produce The Next Akinyele LG Chairman
Moniya is the headquarters of Akinyele local government area of Oyo state and remains one of the commercial centres of the council area.
Akinyele local government comprises 12 wards, why wards 5 and 8 are regarded as the biggest in the council area in terms of population and political participation.
Interestingly, Akinyele is divided into two state constituencies and are currently occupied by two vibrant lawmakers Hon Ayo Fatokun, Chairman Parliamentary Council and Hon Kehinde Olatunde who is the Chairman house committee on works.
The two lawmakers are doing their best in terms of quality representations and legislative activities.
Talking about political appointments and meaningful development, the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has honoured the council area with three lofty positions given to Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe Hon Kunle Yusuff (MON) and Victor Olojede as Special Adviser and Senior Special Assistant and Special Assistant to the Governor coupled with reconstruction of Moniya-Ijaye Iseyin road project and revitalization of Moribund Pacessetter Asphalt and Quarry at Ijaye Orile of the council Area.
Why it is Moniya’s Turn to govern the affairs of Akinyele Local government
Since 1999 when the country returned to civilian rule, the council area has had many Chairmen either appointed or elected before the local council development areas were created by the immediate past administration.
They all did there best towards the development of the Akinyele local government.
From Engr Akinwumi Akinsola in 1999 to Alh Mukaila Ambali 2019, Moniya indigenes had no chance to either be appointed or elected as Chairman of Akinyele local government.
Several attempts made by the previous administration to appoint Moniya Indigene as Chairman were not successful until the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde who believes in equality and corrected the abnormalities that have been there for so many years by appointing Hon Taoreed Adedigba Jimoh who is a Former councilor ward 5 and Indigene of Aarin- Ile quarters in the heart beat of Moniya as the Caretaker Chairman of Akinyele local government.
The appointment of Hon Taoreed Jimoh as caretaker Chairman to many Moniyans and founding members of Peoples Democratic Party is a right step in the right direction.
Most residents appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for rewarding Hon Taoreed Jimoh for his loyalty, commitment and dedication to uphold the party within his capacity especially at the trying times.
For the good eight years of PDP out of power, I know quite a number of PDP leaders and members who had moved to different political parties for greener pastures but Honourable Taoreed Jimoh never left PDP.
Please accept my apologies if I have offended anyone with regards to my analyses and comments.
To be continued.
